My wife has a couple of allergies but they're really odd, but that makes them easy to deal with. She is allergic to "mixed feathers" but not to the individual ones. She can be in contact with chicken feathers, turkey feathers, etc. without a problem, but mix them together and she develops a rash.

The peanut is deadly poison to me. I have had that particular allergy since birth. Every few years I test it, and it hasn't gone away.

Another excellent point...getting tested every few years. To see if you have developed....a tolerance.

I had something similar, although not as profound as yours requiring a trip to the er. One night I woke up itchy, all over my body but especially my torso. Scratching and scratching, just can't find relief. Got up in the morning, my chest and back are covered in welts. Whaaaaaat? Anyways, I popped some benedryl, I was back to normal by that night.

I don't have any allergies that I know off, didn't do anything different from before, same soap, same laundry detergent, same food, I dunno what happened there...just one of those things.

It was scary. Watching it grow in real time and my eye swelling shut was scary. No real allergies to speak of. I mean my nose gets stuffy at night after mowing hay, but nothing Benadryl wont knock on its butt in 15 minutes. I swear thats a miracle drug.

Hopefully you are doing better and will figure out what caused this?

I have been using N95 respirators while mowing during the past 20 years due to dust, weeds, molds etc.

The dust etc. was causing nasal cavity inflammation followed by sore throat leading to antibiotics (to cure the sore throat)!

No need for antibiotics or antihistamines since as long as I use a respirator.

That's the one that scares me a bit when my kids would have friends over. One kid on the cross country team had it. His mom was there constantly watching his every move at every event and practice. One speck of peanut and he could be dead. You could see that it wore on his mom quite a bit.

For many years my wife has been going to an allergy clinic. They stick needles in you to find what you're allergic to, area makes a red welt. Then they give an injection specifically made for the patient.
You can self test by taking a tiny piece of each plant rubbing on your arm to see if it reacts usually within 30 minutes or so.

There's been some headway in peanut allergies recently involving desensitization.

Me too. I think I'd die if I couldn't eat peanut butter and nuts of all kinds.

I feel for anyone who has it.
