ROtella T-6 Synthetic Oil

I agree on using synthetic in every modern engine. My old Ferguson is supposed to have straight 40 weight non-detergent. That stuff is impossible to find in my neck of the woods anymore. I have been running Delo 10-40 in it recently. The oil pressure is fine as long as I don't work it hard, but drops more than I would like if it gets really warm. (fortunately it has been delegated to a light duty tractor) Where do you find straight 40 weight, Lou?

I found some at Tractor supply usually I get it at NAPA.

I buy my T6 at wallyworld.

I did an oil change on my pickup last week and was getting down on oil, priced it out and wally world was the least expensive.
Stopped in and they only had one gallon jug,
so I went home and ordered it on line for delivery to the house.
Fed Ex really enjoyed my order, I got 2, 2 1/2 gallon jugs in one box and 3 one gallon jugs in another box,
2 day free delivery easier then going in the store and carrying it out.

If anyone's interested, there's some good info on oils at the PQIA website (pqia.org). This came from another TBN thread.

This page affirms that most all oils are adequate and none stands out much above the other. Much of this information is above the average person's head and/or is misused in advertising.

What you shouldn't put much stock into is people saying "My engine blew up because I used brand 'X' motor oil." or "My engine was trouble free for 20 years because I used brand 'Y' motor oil. They would have probably had the same good or bad luck using another brand of oil.

Yes, most of the current oils will do an excellent job of lubricating our engines in most cases.
In my mind for day to day use the detergents and cold flow abilities are important.
Then when winter comes around the pourability and flow characteristics take on a very important role,
for starting ability and quicker lubrication on start up.
I do use synthetics in every thing unless it's leaking and using quite a bit of oil.
My old Dynahoe 190-4 with its Detroit 4-53 gets straight weight 40, it is the only thing I have that does get a non synthetic.
I have used a lot of Amsoil, Mobile 1, HD Syn 3 and Rotella T6.

I also have a Dynahoe 190 with a 353 two stroke Detroit. Its old (1979) but very strong. I use Chevron's Deloョ 100 in the straight 40 WT. as that is best for 2 stroke diesel, as you seem to know!!! Heard that the varied wt. oils leave deposits on cylinders. I just tried to crank the beast when all I got or get is a clicking sound. It used to start strong. Do you think it could just be a solenoid? I do all my own work on my Kabota B-7800 tractor, so do you think I could pull the starter and repair it myself? Any help would be appreciated, thanks fellow 2 stroke owner!

Could be several things,
low battery, dirty cable connections, grounds, or the solenoid or starter.
I did have to replace my starter 4-5 years ago, it was one heavy son of a gun to hold while removing and starting the bolts.
I believe mine was a Delco 42MT around 50 pounds.

Thanks for the heads up on the weight, as I thought that would be the case. It has plenty of juice to the starter, so its got to come off. Oh boy! Thanks again!
