Debit cards now have most of the protections and benefits of CCs.

When I was doing some web selling, I had a separate checking account. All transactions went through that one only. A couple of times a month, I moved money from there to my main account.

I like when you pay for a hundred bucks of Gas with the CC, go next door to buy a hamburger and they tell you the card is no good, and you make a total azz of yourself. Turns out, at the moment, the bank decided to cancel it, on account of suspicious activity. Nice of them to tell me, and they won't even tell me where the suspicious activity occured to protect the criminals. Other than that, yes CCs are GREAT.

You need a new bank. After one decline, I got a phone call about fraud alert. I was still in line and it just took another two swipes.
They ID'd two less than ten dollar purchases at a gas and diesel pump as suspicious that I made earlier in the day. Like an hour earlier. LOL.

That particular gas station has a history of skimmers, I wounder if they knew that?

My gas card did that once when I made two small purchases. Filled the car, then 4 5 gallon gas cans. Used bonus point for the cans but not the car ... long story on the way they did their points bit. Anyways, filled the car, shut the pump off, then tried to use the same pump again to fill the cans. Pump balked ... had to go inside.

Story I got later was that card thieves were doing this. They'd stand near the pumps with a stolen CC and use it to 'sell' gas to other cars at some huge discount. Pump would ring up $50 in gas to the card (billed to the card holder), but the punk would collect $20 in cash from the other car(s). This might go on for 5, 10 or more cars in just a few minutes in some places.

If the word Vaseline, is pronounced Vass-a-leen, why isn't the word Baseline pronounced Bass-a-leen?

I heard in Germany they call it " der-veener-slider "

I know a little German...he's about this big...(holds hand 4' off floor)
