Most likely not engine oil but unburnt fuel with exhaust carbon coloring. Short runs, not getting the engine up to operating temperature. Tractor needs to be taken out and had the snot worked out of it for several hours. Quit babying it.

Much agree. Last parts I needed I found at a dealer cheaper than Messicks.

My L2900DT ( Dual traction) D1503 L-A has a oil leak at the exhaust manifold. I would like your opinion about what would cause this oil leak, and how to fix. After cleaning this is the oil it leaks after 4 hours run time. I did not notice loss of power, and no abnormal smoke.
The tractor is NON TURBO, shows 2200 hours and is most time not worked hard.
I tried to put a picture on this page, but I only managed to have a picture in a attachment.

Sure looks to be 'slobbering' to me from not being run hard enough for long enough. Diesels have to be run up to operating temperature of they slobber unburnt diesel just like yours is. Real common on big trucks that idle a lot.

Much agree. Last parts I needed I found at a dealer cheaper than Messicks.

When they first created their internet presence they undercut a lot of dealers on parts pricing. To a large degree they have gotten over that. But service sells and their service is outstanding.

I was always thinking that a diesel in good condition had "full combustion". But I can see that it needs operating temperature for that.
I cannot always "load" the tractor, but I will prevent idling and keep up the rpm's.

The issue is, the internal cylinder temperature isn't high enough and the diesel condenses on the internal surfaces and exits the combustion chamber through the exhaust port as a liquid and leaks out of the gasket and causes slobber. Real common on big trucks that idle a long time, especially when it's cold out.

Limiting idle time will go a long way towards eliminating it, especially when it's cold out. Usually, when they slobber like that (or wet stack) the first time you wind the motor up with a load, it will smoke like a freight train because it's burning off all that gunk in the exhaust system.
