Yeah it is getting expensive
My Ms are $1000 each to do all fluids and filters. My Massey is even more
Except for the break in period oils change, beginning to think there is some gratuitous overkill built into the frequency of the fluid changes.
I had 2 different dealer service techs tell me it is overkill and they have some customers actually never change the fluid, just change filters and top off!!! No problems either.
I wouldnt recommend doing that
When I drain my oil, I take it to my buddy who uses it to heat his shop. Last couple times I took it in, he actually added it to his backhoe hydraulic system. He said it was too clean to waste as heating oil

I always scratch my head over comments about how expensive consumable stuff like Kubota fluid is. People drop 30 or 40 grand on a tractor and whine about the costs of consumables. I find it humorous. Like you, my M's take 15 gallons each and like your buddy, I use it in my waste oil burner in the winter.

I do a fluid change and filters (only Kubota filters) every 2 years and I keep a couple gallons on hand because my remotes are always peeing a bit of fluid when I change implement hydraulics, which I do often.

Wait until they buy tires. I reshod one of my M's this spring, 4500 bucks for rubber.

Oil analysis is a money saving tool.

+10. Cheapest 25 bucks you'll ever spend. Concise oil analysis is what extended my drain intervals to 2 years on the transmission and the engine. How a lubricant 'looks' to the eye and how it's performing can only be assessed with spectroscopic analysis. Could look 'dirty' to you but might be just fine additive package wise. I depend on mine for an income so I don't take any chances. Not toys.

You could have to use the super synthetic recommended for my BMW motorcycle. Thank God - only 6 quarts. $18.95/quart.

30 0r 40 grand? Try 82 grand on the new one I bought in 2012. :confused2: The other 3 were just a little under 50. Thats a 1/4 million in tractors. Its not whining. Its having to overpay that ticks me off. What the heck kind of oil costs that much? If it was that expensive, it would last longer.

Maybe because I run 4 farm tractors a zero turn and 3 trucks Im complaining? I dunno....add up all those fluid costs.....probably 6 grand a year..... :confused2: dang right Im complaining! Its not insignificant. I'm convinced the drain intervals are too frequent. The oil that comes out of Kubota transmissions looks like its brand new. I think its overkill. Even the filters are now 35-50 bucks! Seems like they were 10-12 bucks like 15 years ago.

Tires you say??? I replaced the tires on my 7945 and getting the best deal I could on a half decent Trelleborg radials it was still $6,500. :confused2:

Then theres the 1 time (hopefully 1 time) BIG repair each year..... never fails....

Love my occupation, but every $100 bucks means something to me.

Only one way to make a million in farming....start with 2 million. :confused2:
