I have a Mahindra 4510 that has 9.6GPM from the pump and 4.3GPM for the power steering. I was wondering if I could tap into the pressure line that feeds the 3 rear remotes, add a 'T' fitting and a hydraulic solenoid that I can turn on and off to power a front mount PTO motor.

1) Do I have enough flow to do this?
2) What size PTO motor should I get to run a 7ft finish mower?
3) What type/size solenoid should I buy?
4) If this isn't the thing to do, could I add a pump that is driven right off the crank? (18 spline, 1" output shaft on end of crank)

Start with how much horsepower the mower requires and work backwards. My gut feeling says no.

Your idea of a solenoid means you divert all flow, none of your other hydraulic functions will work. You also need to be very certain there is a relief valve between the pump and solenoid. You must have relief protection when switching.

For what you want to do, a rear driven pump off the PTO is likely more practical, but will require some work to have a decent system

Your tractor hydraulics function just like a garden hose,,
put a "T" at the end of a garden hose,,put a nozzle on one opening,,

the nozzle has no pressure, all the water will go out the other port,
the fluid takes the path of least resistance.

If you put a "T" in the tractor hydraulics,, what you will find is both sides of the "T" will not work,
unless BOTH sides of the "T" are doing work at the same time..

Basically, do not add a "T" to a hydraulic pressure supply line,,,

You can't tee into a pressure line on an open center system. It's valves are serial, not parallel. You're not going to have enough flow to run a 7' mower. The crank nose is not made to run something that takes that much power, and you'd have to construct another PTO clutch. You should use a PTO driven 3pt mounted hydraulic power pack. Many companies make them, or you can build one.

Kinda figured that was not going to work, but I thought I would ask.

OK, so my options, at least to me, are as follows:

1) The best option is to get a PTO gearbox driven off of the crank like the ones made by Zuidberg. They are however VERY expensive. Anyone know of a universal version of Zuidberg's PTO gearboxes?
2) Add a hydraulic pump to the engine, belt driven with an electric clutch that will feed the PTO motor independently.
3) Use a PTO gearbox that runs a shaft all the way to the front from the back.

The problem that I also have, is that I want to be able to have the rear PTO and lift arms available to run an airblast sprayer for my orchard. The mower that is on the front is a swing arm mower that has a disc that 'swings' out of the way when it encounters a tree. Having that in front of the operator is FAR superior to having to look behind you or use a mirror. Smaller trees are more sensitive and I would like to be able to adjust on the fly accordingly

Don't forget the issue of HEAT and how you plan to cool that oil.

Any recommendations for accomplishing this?

Does anyone know of a PTO gearbox that is crank driven with a clutch?
