Missing my old sled puller and smelling the 110 burning about a 1/2 gallon in 300' Re-posting Marana, AZ 2015, the old 440 FE gets it done! I think they call that, "takin it out the gate"

We did sled pulling for about a decade, ended with a 1070 hp Ford 521ci on gasoline, cast intake, single carb and no power adders or forced induction.

I love the Ford FE series. I didn't do any sled pulling, but had a 64 Galaxie 2 dr hdtp. 390 4 barrel, at the same time I built a 66 Comet, 390 with 427 cam, 12.5 hi domes, 750 Holley dbl. pumper 4 on the floor....a tire smoking monster of a street machine.
Out on the farm I had a 66 F 100 Custom Cab, 352 granny gear 4 speed hay hauling truck.

Nice! Thanks for sharing, my brother pulls the same year truck for 40 years, still pulls today. I only pulled in the 6500 lb street class, but it was a fun ride.

I had a couple FE's back in the day. My first was a '61 390 tri-power, three speed overdrive from a wreck that I stuffed in a '56 Fairlane 2 door hardtop; fun ride but it didn't last long. My other was a '62 Galaxie, 2 door HT, 406, tri-power, four speed; a good running Chevy 327 would eat it's lunch

My Montana in-laws headed to the first pull of the season, Burley, Idaho (6-27-20) IH tow truck and 40' Load Trail. The dyno sheet is the blue GM.

My brother went to Valier, MT. same day but a lot closer for him. First pull on his new rebuilt engine, looks like he ran out of track. I would guess the sled operator underestimated his truck and set it wrong. Not enough weight in the box or shanks didn't deploy or both.

Is that naturally aspirated, single carb, cast aluminum intake and on gasoline... Or alcohol, charged, injected, sheet metal intake?
