That's a great idea for the mailbox. My mailbox is about 225' from the house and I don't always see it delivered.

Whoops, I forgot about the snowplows. I guess I would need a wireless alert triggered by the opening of the mailbox door.

My rule is... I don't run... (I'm not a runner, never have been... short winded all my life)... I'll stand my ground & if it is bigger & badder than me... its my time... lol

No but seriously I don't run.... I take the SxS or ATV to the mailbox... Its a 1/2 mile + away... I mean its down hill... but I have to get back up it.... That calls for motorization... lol

We use the USPS site and usually know exactly what to expect as each piece has a photograph except the Amazon pieces but we already know when they will arrive. Saves a mosquito biting walk when not necessary.

Maybe you could ask your carrier to press a button or flip a switch, if there is addressed mail.

My carrier's car sounds like the one in Funny Farm. I can hear it coming on the next road over.

For the mailbox, I made a mail alert flag that swings up if the door is opened. Nothing to wear out as it is gravity powered. One end is heavier so it swings down.

I have a Dakaota Alert IR sensor for the driveway and a base station in the house. The MURS stuff was important for the range. The good news is that it worked great, for a year or so. The bad news is that it it barely works at all now, even with fresh batteries and the sensor in my back yard instead of down the driveway. Something about the equipment has not held up, couldn't say for sure if it's transmitter or receiver, but the sensor/transmitter seems more likely.

So ... wasted money from my point of view. Maybe they're better than that, I wouldn't know.
