When you have large barns and tens of nests, waste management is an issue. Especially so when it's on food for livestock. Then you also have the annoying "protect" the nest behavior of those birds. Swooping your livestock, people and barn animals, also causing issues.

I've never tried that. Most birds don't like my Drone.

At work we had a large storage building that was infested with nesting starlings. The birds came in the open doors and nested in the insulation in the walls and ceiling. They installed one of these electronic devices in the middle of the ceiling and the birds were GONE. Very cool!

Barn swallows can nest on my yard all they want. I don't like the mess but I like the fact that they clean up mosquito's. Good idea to just use some sawdust under the nesting area.

I guess I'm just a bleeding heart, and the birds in the barn don't bother me. We have tons of starlings and barn swallows. They make a mess, but not near what the horses do. The fledglings get themselves stuck behind the kickboards for the stalls. If I hear them fluttering around, I'll fish them out with a long-handled net. Sometimes, they'll hop onto my shoulder for a while after I fish them out. At that age, I guess they latch onto anything.
