Project Farm

My son shared this site with me a couple days ago that may be of interest to some.

So one of my most useful tools is a good stereoscope.

I have a decent one at work with a good ring light, and I have an American Optical at home with the smallish AO spot light.

The one at work has a little bit better depth of field and wider viewing, but I believe it is due to the better eye lenses. My AO is slightly more powerful.

I use a lot of smallish endmills at work making small details on parts. I use a lot of .015" endmills. have smaller but not used as much. The stereoscope is invaluable to see if your endmill's cutting corners are still good or not.

That is familiar to me. Not the tiny end mills, but using a stereoscope to check cutter tips. Or when I was polishing tooling. I've never used anything smaller than 1/16" and even that was very rare. 1/8" was a little more common. 3/8"-3/4" was the majority of what I used.

Okay here is today’s example of senseless waste.

As mentioned earlier one of my tenants company in our maintenance yard had been hired to work with commercial landlords and their tenants.

Today he cleaned out the contents of an office complex and among the items removed from the board room was this giant TABLET ( no not just a flat screen TV).

Cisco 55 inch touch screen approximately 100 pounds. In good working order when removed. Retail list price $33,000.00. We found a web site that had them on sale for $28,500 though...

NOT to be resold. NOT to be repurposed. NOT to be donated.

Destined for certified and documented destruction before recycling of parts.
