I like that tractor mount! Nice idea. Now I need to look for a place. Not many options on a B7200;

I JUST made my own spacer the other day.

Two lengths of 7/16 round bar with one end bent tight at 90 degrees with about a 3 inch leg.

Both pieces are a friction fit into a piece of 1 1/4 square tube I had in the scrap bin (had to buy the 7/16" stuff . # dollars! Man steel is spendy)

The tool works great, I keep it in the tractor shed, and get it off the hook when I need it. I really should spray paint the parts, rust might lock up the friction fit.

I lost my spreader bar some time ago. I started using a rubber bungee with slots and have never thought about replacing the spreader bar.

Re: Pat痴 Easy Change Spreader Bar Mount

Whew, not the thread I thought I was starting. Sorry for the post.

I for one, am glad you did.
Great storage idea for the spreader bar. I have been looking for a simple way to mount it out of the way for when it is needed. I always seem to forget it and then it's a trip back to the barn. Thanks for the idea.

You failure to comprehend does no make concept I put forth wrong....

Your attempt to fix a working system with a extremely expensive poorly working system that requires replacing perfectly working implements with inferior build new ones makes it the best option! Only in the mind of those profiting from hour willingness to spend lots of money.
Trying to change a system that is not broken for one that does not have the bugs worked out.
Send me several 10’s of $1000 and I might consider your suggestions. And then probably reject it because it flawed in its basic concept.

Where do you attach the bungee(s) to spread the lift arms?

Your question stumped me - I had to scratch my head!
I had to sit and think about my process when hooking up implements. In conjunction to the bungee, use the check chains to tweak the spread.
It seems to work for me - trust me, I'm lazy, and if I had to struggle with it I would not do it.

See that's the problem with my B series, the check links are inside the arms so I need something to spread the arms apart. I was going to make a spring loaded "V" to spread them and would also be out of the way of the PTO shaft so could be left on.

I thought of something like that too, but decided to give the purchased option another try rather than fabricate something. I’d love to see what you come up with.

Yup! On the B7200, the unattached arms fall together with the check rods and turn buckle adjusters in between. A real pain without a spreader. The other tractors don't do that.

Well I'll b. I never knew that.
