I致e learned to watch the dew points. The humidity goes down as the temp goes up but the dew point will stay pretty steady. Dew points above 70 is getting pretty humid. Right now we have a temp of 90, dew point 74, resulting in a heat index of 100 in Macomb Illinois.

We had the same weather up here.....super muggy when dew points get that high. At least we just had some rain and today is better. Dry heat? What's that?

I have seen dew points as high as 80* here in South Louisiana. A dewpoint of 75 is common and very oppressive.

Today was our hottest day so far this year. I went to the woods to move a deer feeder and after about 15 minutes of light work, I was done. It amazes me how much harder it is to work in high dewpoint weather.

My home thermostat is set at 76 and reads 79 right now. I just stepped out the house for less than one minute at 7.20 pm to get my grandkids out of the car and was sweating immediately.

Why do they call it 'comfort' level?
That is one thing it isn't.

Long story short, when it's hot, your body stays cool by sweating. The quicker you can evaporate the sweat off your body, the better per being "comfortable" in hotter weather.

By controlling the RH level in the home (brining it down), your body can stay more comfortable in a warmer indoor temperature.

All that said, the reality is when it's over 100F outside, it's still pretty hot no matter what the temperature level

I enjoy our four seasons here, but every year I dread summer. I burned up several vacation days already because it was just too darned hot to accomplish anything, and while there's been hot days we really haven't had a long spell of them... yet.

We have four seasons in NC, and in our area, we'll even get a dumping of snow from time to time. Having lived in Maine, New Hampshire and NY, I honestly find that we have more time to work outside then being further up north. Yes, summer months are early mornings for outside work, but it seems our spring season starts at the end of February. We also don't spend a lot of time with snow removal which I've come to love

It has been hot and humid here in the Missouri river valley. I got out grinding out stumps along the boundary of my woods, I lasted until about 10:15 am.

I remember the year my cousin brought his family from out west for a visit here.
Our temps were running in the low 90s at the time with humidity to match.
I have never seen anyone sweat like they did. Tried not to laugh. They aint been back.

I went out west for a couple weeks and it was so dry. My skin was dry and my heels were badly cracking. It was SOOO nice having that wonderful humidity hit us when we walked off our plane in WI. It sounds like we get used to the extremes where we live, doesn't it?

It's true. We moved from OKC to Albuquerque back in the late 50's; after living there for a year or so, it was impossible not to notice on our first trip back in the Summer how humid it was in Oklahoma (which, IMHO is not considered a humid state).
