Other than the fact that they don’t know how to use a HST tractor what does that prove? The HST in low range is easily capable of spinning its wheels the same as the geared did. If you didn’t jerk the load cell which they did and the test was conducted fairly the results would be close to equal.

Exactly.
And how about putting the tractor on concrete too instead of variable grass and dirt.

A gear tractor on hard surfaces will just stall while the hydro will just whine.

Unless you’re ballasted to 300 percent stock weight the HST will spin in low range. My M59 weighs around 10,000 pounds with the loaded tires and it will spin. The M59 will spin on dirt in medium low. A gear tractor can pull a plow across a field or a wagon up a hill faster than the HST but the static pull in a fair test will be the same.

All tractors will spin tires in low range even my wheelbarrow will spin in low range, but gear tractor in high on hard surface when pulling a mountain will just stall, it has to be on grass..........

That all sounds good but, then explain to simple old me,
why almost every tractor on tractor pulling including stock garden tractors are geared,
and the winners all are.

Geared tractors are more efficient. Nobody is denying that. If you want to utilize every hp you have and go up a grade as fast as possible the gear will win. But if you want to pull on a stump traction is the limiting force. Both machines are capable of exceeding the traction limitations. If you chain two identical tractor to a stump other than the transmission type and they’re both sitting there spinning their wheels how is one pulling harder than the other one?

I prefer hydro for bucket work but gear for cost savings up front, at the time hydro was 2k more but now they might be the same price.

I've never used my tractor on concrete, very little on grass; now dirt... that's where it's at. :D
