I have a MTL 54". I've only had it about a month but it seems solid and does what I need it to do. It weighs around 400 lbs though, which is about 1/3 of the lifting capacity of your T233- a concern which you've already mentioned.
Somebody mentioned the artillian model;
Sectional Grapple - Artillian
They are priced comparable to mine, and are a lot lighter; the grapple is only 90 lbs, if I read the specs right. The single grapple doesn't look as wide as you'd like though. You could also just buy the top grapple and mount it on your bucket or pallet forks.

One downside to mine which may be normal or could be specific to the MTL, is that it won't close down very tightly on small trees. I plan to make an adapter from a couple of old ATV tires which I salvaged from my trash.

If weight weren't an issue MTL would be a perfect place to start. I really like the looks of their rock bucket grapple. They don't state or I just missed it what there material is. I'm Guessing that they use low carbon or A36 plate at that price to get the strength, but a weight sacrifice.

I know, I'll tell my wife I'm going to buy a new heavier tractor to save on the attachment's. Thinks she buy it?:irked:

Precision manufacturing now also makes a grapple called the mini 322. That and the wicked 55" are the only 2 that weight 250lbs or so...the rest are 400lbs and up that I've seen.

Someone else recommended the mini 322 as well. But I can't find pricing info for them.

For me the weight wasn't an issue as much as the extra $945 for the EA or Land Pride. Plus to buy the former they wanted a little over $900 up front, then that much again 2 months later when they were ready to ship. Instead I gave the money to MTL, and had it in a week without the second payment. If weight becomes an issue it'll be because I"m lifting big logs, and I'll convert the top to go onto my pallet forks.

I don't expect weight to become an issue. ;)

The Land Pride is priced comparable to the EA, according to my Kubota dealer when I asked this spring; and weighs 156 lbs.https://cdn-assets.greatplainsmfg.com/ari/attach/lp/public/specs/380-138s.pdf

Oops, somebody linked the LandPride grapple already, on page 2.

:shocked: I think for that price I'd go with EA first.
I don't disagree. Tractor time with Tim had a discount code for that grapple with them but I think it was only about 5% or so

Cut and pasted a response of mine from another grapple thread...food for thought: Couple of tips arrived at through a ton of research and many hours of grapple use (nothing new here....you will find others have made the same observations including our friend, Jinman, R.I.P.): Many, many people have bought wider/heavier grapples and wished they had gone narrower/lighter....almost nobody has bought a narrower grapple and wished they had bought wider. This is especially true if you work in woods, tighter spaces or uneven ground. Think about negotiating through tight wooded areas with your bucket on. My bucket is 72".....it gets TIGHT in my working conditions. The reality is you really can't grab a lot more material by going a little bit wider with a grapple. Also, remember that the wider the grapple, the higher the twisting moment around your loader arms. Be careful, things can get bent with a wide, heavy uneven load...our compact tractor loaders are not as stout as a skid or track loader. In addition, narrower the grapples tend to be lighter leaving more lifting capacity to the payload. IMO, the MTL 48" single lid grapple with a 41" opening and a flat bottom (the flat bottom provides overall higher utility IMO), fully greaseable pivot points, protected cylinder, etc., is a killer unit/value at less than $900 delivered. It's plenty for my larger/heavier 55hp.

Yes these are all good points. That is the reason I want to stay as close to 48" as possible. My tractor is well under 60" wide, and I'm in hill country, some very steep. Very aware of roll over potential. I have all four tires filled with beet juice to aid in that. My lift capacity is 1200 and safe working capacity a little less so an extra 100 pounds in a grapple makes a big difference. I'll look at the MTL again.
