That filson one looks just like what i was thinking... bottom protection without full coverage so as not to overheat. Thanks

I suspect that people who are critical of your problem have never had a lab. They only know one thing, and that's full speed ahead. I have my vet's number on speed dial. I keep several CCs and rotate them just because I don't want to keep track of or know how much he costs me.

Filson makes good products, and that vest looks like it would do what you want it to.

thanks... and she sure does have only one speed. Fast. Good thing is the stitches dont bother her at all....bothered my pocket book though. Shes run thru the forest for 18 months without any issues. But i just want to give her a little protection and not destroy her fun times. Dont want a dog that has to stay indoors or on a leash.

it her jumping onto a stick or broken branch. Her wound was down low. Im afraid of overheating her on a wrap arround vest

A Lab doesn't even grow a brain until they turn two. I'm on my second, and have always taken them to work with me as much as I can. My current dog is just over 9 years old and can't go all day the way he used to due to arthritis... he had to have both knees rebuilt after hanging himself by the hind feet while going over a blown down tree. My last dog lived to be 14, and didn't slow down until she was 12; but again, arthritis and old injuries got to her. She'd also had one knee fixed (cruxiate ligament)… again resulting from a work-related injury.

I wouldn't have any other breed though.

I had 3 golden retrievers before this dog. One lived to 16 yo, the others till 15. Active until last few years for each. Always running thru woods. Swimming. Walking trails. I love the golden breeds, but the hair got to be too much to maintain. The black lab is pretty much maintenance free, but tends to shed alot. Giving coat supplements helps, but its just the breed.
I did not know that they rebuild dog knees......

As I was taking Ruger down out of the tree where he was hanging by his hind legs I was thinking "this looks like a 2000$ repair bill." I was pretty darned close, but also have a good vet who understands that a lot of his clients aren't King Midas.
I shopped around and was getting prices of up to $4000 per knee!!!. I love my dog, but not that much.
