Going back to greasing...
I typically grease until I see a bit of grease coming out. I dont worry about it after that. I have too many other things to worry about. The extra grease sits there, getting dirty, falling off, or getting wiped off by brush or trees... not exactly wiped... more like smeared.
That is until I wash the tractor. I use a pressure washer that pumps cold water, which does nothing to the grease other than spread it around. Then, I simply move on.
I do clean the zerk before greasing though. Dont want to push that crap through the zerk into the joint. Use Tub-o-Towels to clean out the recessed zerk.
