How come you cut the easy tree, I always go to the further more lot and save the easy ones for last, or in case it's to hot and I want to jump in the pool.

Well that's just goofy!! I just drop the easy ones at the edge of the field and increase the size of the field. No skidding and getting the trees all dirty, just cut to length and pick them up and put them on the trailer and drive them over to my mill.. oh.. yes.. and then jump in the pool!!:D

@8:15>Where do Sycamore and Walnut trees grow?

We have black walnut here, and occasionally a sycamore, they seem to be in small patches though. I don't know anybody that does that with their tractor though.

Good looking logs though...

Yes these Loblolly pines make for some great logs, the trees are tall and straight with out a lot of taper and make nice construction lumber. SYP

I thought the way he loaded that trailer was pretty slick.

gg

I stopped watching at about the 11:20 mark after he dragged that first log out. The bucking tractor was enough for me to turn away.

I just went back and watched the trailer loading. Thanks for the heads up on that.

How do those pines smell when milling? White pine up smells great when sawing but stains quick if not sticker-ed and popple people smells the worst I hate milling that wood.

This hillbilly doesn't like sweet gum wood for some reason, says its the worst wood ever, wonder why he's saying that..... Anyway @10:25 he has point problems again and says the worst thing that can be done to old tractors is change them from 6 to 12 volt system, just get a 8 volt battery which I never heard of. I guess 12 volts is only needed to start the tractor but it only needs 6 to run, of course points has always been an issue on old motors anyways, I use to have a point file 40 years ago probably they dont make them anymore....

I hardly ever watch homestead videos but this hillbilly makes it interesting to me, he's not homesteading in a mansion somewhere around Lake Michigan, he getting by on nickles and dimes and bicycle transportation, more like hobo homesteading.
