Choosing just one grease..

I do not understand your post. My data shows the Lucas green tube X-tra HD grease meets the shear stable criteria and should be compatible with almost any other grease. Am I incorrect?

Grey area, ie I am not sure. Tech data sheet says "Polyurea" in the thicknener type. Note the large differences in compatibility (table) between "polyurea" and "polyurea shear stable" thickener. Without a blurb from Lucas confirming it is shear stable I would take the conservative approach.

Give Walmart a try, I think it値l be $5-$6 (USD) there. They probably buy a ship load of products from Lucas and get big discounts. I also see Lucas green in other stores priced quite a bit higher.

They compared a grease costing less 1/2 the price. Super Tech brand also has a more expensive extreme pressure high temp multi purpose grease. One problem with store brand names is they are contracted out and what you buy today might be a different manufacture tomorrow.

That's $10 canadian I take it, what's that in US $, currently? I got a 10-pack on amazon for $50, they still have that pricing on there.

If I wanted to do this, I'd probably go with white lithium, but I'm not sure you can get it in the tubes that go into grease guns.

I usually buy grease from TSC. I've never looked on the website though. TSC and most places around here have limited offerings to choose from (I really hate making a special trip to buy something like grease). What I find is funny is that TSC has Rotella grease for $3.99 a tube and a 'price break' if you buy 3 it's $15. Not sure who came up with that. Their travlers brand by the 10 pack is a good deal but you must make sure the person at the cash register knows it. Otherwise they will charge you the per tube price (for example $3.29 for the Traveler's premium HD grease per tube vs $20 for a box of ten). Often they want to open the box and scan one tube and then change the quantity to 10 which doesn't seam to discount it.

Amsoil has a general purpose grease that will work well on anything you own. I've been using it for 25 yrs. Hope this helps.
