68°F and .29 inches rain.

Once it dries, need to get to mowing, hopefully no distractions other than making a few calls re the door glass repair.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Cleaning up broken glass in your bare feet, David?

Same thing happened here a few years ago. Sounded like a gunshot when the inner pane broke. Never did figure out what caused it, but it cost the better part of a grand to repair.:(

That was after I vacuumed. But still not 100% I got the all. Especially out in the grass 4 ft away.

David, if you’re going to use plastic I would highly recommend Lexan over plexi. I’ve used both on boat windscreens and the Lexan, while bit more costly, is a far better product. It’s easier to work with, stronger and clearer much longer.

Thanks, I would prefer the Lexan

Mid 90s already and humid, dew point is 75.
Looks like we east coast folks have to watch the tropical storm for a few days.

Gathering stuff for my birthday cookout, birthday is Sunday, but cookout is Saturday to better fit kids and grandkids schedule. Just a typical old fashioned burger and dog cookout, Daughter is making my favorite deviled eggs and daughter-in-law is making the cake, step kid are bringing chips and such.

Thanks for the garage fan link, Don. Been thinking about putting one in our garage. It gets unbearably hot in there this time of year. Even the ridge vent installed with the new roof doesn't help enough.

I will have to consider back drafting due to the gas water heater in the garage. I think some vents in the garage door panels will take care of that problem.

Rng, good luck on the tank project. How many coats are required?

tankLidCoated.jpg tankHalfCoated.jpg

The coating is very heavy, Ted, and I'm really glad I had a paint shaker to shake both the component parts and to mix the two together. I used a short 3" roller to apply it because I was afraid it would go on too heavy with a Shutz gun and I'd run out. Seemed to go OK on the bottom of the lid and the front third of the tank, but by that time the metal was getting really hot and I decided to stop painting for the day. I purchased two gallons, and that was all the first gallon would do. The instructions say only one coat is needed, and it is hiding pretty well. Gonna be close to get things covered with the second one, but it just might squeak by. :crossfingers:

my little greenhouse was made out of very thin Lexan panels that oilcanned a bit in the wind but were remarkably durable.
And I have some prior experience with that space age stuff. The second time I had to replace canvas on my Bertram, I said no more rollup
vinyl, the hot ticket was solid sheets of glass like material. So I had the aft deck area and flybridge done in Lexan. My was that nice, easy to clean, but after
three years in the South Florida sun, I was just starting to see a little yellowing. Then I ruined the aft deck canvas by prepping for a hurricane and foolishly put duct tape
across it. Glue melted in tape, and I could not get that off Lexan without wrecking it. Bad Captain... we sat through two hurricanes, one onboard the boat and I must say I felt a lot more secure from the 100mph coconuts and palm fronds with the Lexan in there.

+1 for Lexan, David. I had a Lexan windscreen on one of my motorcycles. One day I put the bike on the lift and raised it right into the rail for the garage door opener. The shield hit first, bent nearly in half, and made so much noise I stopped it before it want any further. I couldn't even find a mark on the Lexan.

A Lucite/Plexiglass shield broke off in strong wind on another bike this past January. No way I'd use that stuff for a window.

If you ever have trouble with Duct Tape adhesive again, Drew, try some GooGone, or 3M Adhesive Remover (it's hard to find but Amazon has it). Wear Nitrile gloves and try not to breathe the fumes...

Good morning. It was 75° and humid this morning and our forecast says 90° this afternoon. Luckily .. we had a nice breeze this morning.

We've got four large live oaks of which the branches of two overhang the lane off the main drive to the house. My supervisor advised that it would be appreciated if I trim up the low limbs the she had to drive her SUV under. That became my project yesterday morning before it got hot.

IMG_2225.jpg

I got out my trusty HF 40 volt pole saw and got busy. I don't like to do major tree trimming, when it's hot but .. managed to trim up lowest branch tips to about 10 ft. above the driveway.

IMG_2231.jpg

The branches of another live oak, in the front yard, were so low I couldn't get under them to mow, with the zero turn, so I worked on that with the 40 V pole saw this morning.

IMG_2237.jpg

After getting all the trimmed limbs to a burn pile, I went to get on the ZT to do some mowing under the trimmed trees. Nope! Left side tire was flat. I grabbed my portable pancake air compressor, to inflate the tire but that was a no go .. indicating the inside bead was broken. I jacked it up, grabbed my pneumatic impact and removed the tire, only to find a piece of about 14 gauge steel wire in the inner sidewall.
Adjustments.jpg

I'll try a plug, after lunch but .. likely it won't hold in the sidewall. A new tire (26x12-16) is about $170 or I can get a complete new wheel and and tire for $208. This is an uncommon size and seems to be hard to find. I can't imagine how many $$$ it would be at the Kubota dealer. I need to make a decision this afternoon.

Welcome .. to our new members.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all.

Pulled the trigger on a new network system for the house this morning. Decided to go with Ubiquity Unifi components that use managed switches and separate access points. One component will also house a large disc drive and host security cam software for their line of cameras. Looking forward to getting rid of the patchwork of cameras and WiFi routers that are here now, but resetting all the network logins, not so much.

Dream Machine Pro
UniFi Switch 24 PoE
Unifi AP AC Pro
G3 Flex Camera

Bummer about the wire, Rick, and with automotive and motorcycle tires, it's a safety no-no to plug a sidewall. On the ZT, it certainly worth a try. You might have better luck using one of those patches with the rubber plug that sticks out in the middle. And maybe use a tire sealant, for good measure. If none of that works out, you can always stick an inner tube in there. Lot cheaper than a $170 new tire/wheel.
