How do I check the fluid level on my 340A, and where do I add hydraulic fluid?

my 540b has a vent on the left side of the loader upright. There is a dipstick below it and also where I add fluid

How do I check the fluid level on my 340A, and where do I add hydraulic fluid?

According to the specs, found the following:
***
Hydraulic system: 8.5 gal [32.2 L]
12.1 gal [45.8 L] (independent PTO)

What does "independent PTO mean?"

And more:

Rear PTO: transmission (optional)
independent (optional)

How do I determine if I have "transmission" or "independent?"

As you can see, I am a complete novice with this larger tractor. I understood my little 8N...

You more than likely have independent PTO, every 340A I have ever seen did. Engage the PTO then push the clutch pedal fully down. If the PTO continues to turn you have IPTO.
The hydraulic system capacity you listed is for the tractor hydraulics / rear axle not the loader.
