^^ I guess you're missing the point of this whole thing. That 'extra donation' is very likely to end up in Wayne's personal piggy bank rather than doing anything else.

"The organisation went from a surplus of almost $28m in 2015 to a $36m deficit in 2018 and has been plagued by factional infighting and a legal battle with its longtime advertising agency Ackerman McQueen."

"LaPierre, stands accused of spending millions of dollars on luxury black car services and private jet trips, including eight visits to the Bahamas, as well as accepting expensive gifts such as African safaris, hair and makeup for his wife and use of a 107-foot yacht."

"He also engineered a $17m post-employment contract for himself, according to the lawsuit."

It also looks like the big boys in NRA have been getting consulting fee's and travel/clothing/vacations (To the tune of millions) paid by Ackerman McQueen and then A/M was billing NRA for it so it did not show up on the NRA books as compensation to the bosses.

Rival gun groups look to fill the NRA's void: Rival gun groups look to fill the NRA's void - POLITICO

The golden parachute LaPierre crafted somehow skipped the board of directors approval.

The big headline from this lawsuit is the request to shutdown the organization. Skipped in most of the reporting is request to recover money from those using it as big piggy bank.

From NY AG website:
Proposed Resolution

As a result of all the allegations mentioned above, Attorney General James seeks to dissolve the NRA; asks the court to order LaPierre, Phillips, Powell, and Frazer to make full restitution for funds they unlawfully profited and salaries earned while employees; pay penalties; recover illegal and unauthorized payments to the four individuals; remove LaPierre and Frazer from the NRA痴 leadership (Phillips and Powell are no longer employed by the NRA); and ensure none of the four individual defendants can ever again serve on the board of a charity in New York.

The NRA is 501(c)(4) non-profit registered in NY (1871). The board and officers are legally required to put the charitable operation first in how the money is spent.

suspect the long goal of this lawsuit is less about shutting down the NRA but recovering money from those that pillaged it. And shifting the focus back to the original gun owners and education group. In 1970's there was a leadership change and focus shift to political arena and lobbying.

And I suspect you are wrong. The NY attorney general could care less about recovering money for NRA members. This lawsuit is COMPLETELY about shutting down the NRA and garnering political points!

Interesting if that is NY's opening bid in a negotiation.

Elsewhere, in an editorial by the Washington Post, even they said it sounds political and shutting down the organization is over reach. They also said something to the effect that we wouldn't have many charities left if we shut them down because of crooked employees.

Works for me. Take one down, pass it around. Maybe the rest will clean up their own act.

So then explain all the clawbacks in the suit. Dissolution is the most extreme result possible, not the first or most likely result. If dissolution was the primary goal, why are all the other remedies sought?

I haven't been following the details, so I don't know what "clawbacks" you are describing. If they amount to getting money out of the NRA, then that weakens them and causes them to be a less effective pro-gun force.

Have you read posts 72 and 73 above?

Wayne and the other officers have been stealing from them for years, weakening them into a schoolyard bully fight.

I was just providing an answer to RickB's question. IMO, the points you bring up don't change that answer.
