Anyone else use more than a gallon of UTF to refill the front axle? I check mine with the dipstick just setting on top of the fill hole. Well over a gallon to get a small amount on the dip stick. I run it with about 1/2" showing on the dip stick when full. I bet I used a least a Gallon and a half of fluid??

Manual has it at 1.58 gallons so sounds like you’re spot on

Glad I hopped on here to see what was going on. I recently did my first 50 hr maintenance at 72 hours and couldn't believe how much HST oil I used. This post reminded me that my axle is still a little low and need to buy another gallon.

No problem. Had the same “where is it going?!?” When I first checked and then topped off the hydro fluid on mine when I first got it. Was about a gallon low 🤦

are you sure on the UTF fluid?
My Kioti CK27HST front axle takes 5qts 80W90 gear oil. Never had a 4X4 tractor front axle that takes hydraulic fluid

Same here. I bought 2.5 gallons of fluid for my 50 hour service and between the fluid loss when changing the filters, and topping up the front axle, I've only got about half a gallon left.

I bought 3 2.5 gallon containers of Mobil 424 to service my 2610. I bet I have under a gallon left.

Perfect. That’s my exact plan.

Summit Racing. Best price on Mobil 424. I really like the 424. Tractor run very quite!

Excellent. Was looking at Summit as well.

Its calling for 90W gear oil or transmission oil. For me I would assume its still 90W

Would be worth a call to the service department. HUGE difference between 90W and UTF.

You Can use either. Mine came with UTF in it. Changed it once at 50 hours and now at 310 hours. No problems. Yes I know manual states to change at 400 hours but I didn't want to do it in Winter Cold weather.

That’s fair, I took it to read anything in the row above for acceptable transmission fluid was acceptable.

SAE 90 wt or better, or the same as the transmission,
When looking at a spec like that and with the lube going for the differential and bevel and spur drives for the front axle,
personally I would have and have used 75W-140 gear lube as it has better extreme pressure additives (EP).
But it's your axle so do what you wish the manual allows most anything.

I have a 2015 CK27. I changed my front axle fluid last year. It uses 90/80 gear oil. Big difference than using UTF hydraulic oil. Your manual states 90/80 w gear oil for front axle. Your HST states UTF hydraulic oil. Do what you think is best. No way i am putting hydraulic oil when it calls for gear oil.

I’m new to tractors and happy to learn. Wouldn’t those same stresses be in the transmission and rear end?

The differential and planetary reduction in the rear end is usually quite large compared to the front axle,
then you throw the stresses of a front loader on that smaller front axle it is getting heavier loading.
As far as the transmission most of those gears are straight cut gears compared to sliding bevel gears,
also the transmission gears see less torque then do the final drives.
With the hydrostatic transmissions you are back to hydraulic fluid and the large rear end housing makes a convenient reservoir.
