OK , here's the story...

My nephew bought a new JD 3025E last July after checking out LS, Branson, Kioti and TYM tractors in the 25 HP range.

Overall tractor has been great,

Except for a noise- vibration and jerkiness that has crept in over time that matches when the hydraulics for the FEL are used.

First question I asked was had he checked the quick connects. He said since the FEL bolts on he didn't think it had any.

Dealer has had the tractor for a couple weeks now and said they had never seen a 3025E act this way and weren't sure what is causing the vibration and jerky hydraulics that are in time with the noise.

JD corporate asked the dealer for a video of the tractor while running and using FEL to evaluate.

No fix yet. I don't have a video of the tractor, Sorry, he just asked if I could post this to see if anyone had an idea of what might be causing it.

Thoughts / Ideas?

Yeah, I would check the quick connects if it has them, and also check the hydraulic fluid level

Well it cannot be the quick connect or quick attach, if the bucket is pinned to the FEL. But this sounds much more like hydraulic issues. Check hydraulic fluid levels obviously, but assume that's probably first thing your dealer did. It's also possible you have air in the FEL system that needs to be purged. Typically, this is done at the factory before shipment, but some FEL's are installed by the dealer and sometimes are not adequately purged or even tested before making delivery to customer.

Keep us updated on what the problem really was, just in case we also experience this issue.

Being new, it won't be cheap, poor hydraulic fluid like some people use. I would think that should leave 3 things that come to my mind.

Air in the lines, which means there is a bad hose or connection. Tighten everything and bleed it.

A bad valve somewhere. Does it do it with every motion of the joystick?

Plugged screen, possibly, not letting it get enough fluid back up to it. Being pretty new, the screen probably isn't too bad, but for some issues with my 5065e, I was told that could starve the system and cause problems. I think the gunk is usually brake residue, but I could be wrong.

It does do it with any joystick movement.

Asked a few more questions on the 3025E , 68 hours total
shuddering/noise started about 10 hours ago.
3 point lifts an 800 lb flail mower totally smooth and normal.

The tractor will shudder while not moving or actuating anything... When it happens it courses through the whole tractor.

This seems really odd to me since i thought this was an open center system, there shouldn't be any real pressure to be built up, but I have like you, seen an intake restriction to the hydraulic pump act somewhat similar with / noise vibration and jerky FEL operation resulting from a clogged intake screen.

The 3025E seems to have pretty much everything built into the rear axle housing. no engine mounted hydraulic pumps or pumps down in the middle center of the tractors frame casting. Not sure if that will make it easier or more difficult to troubleshoot/fix- definitely more compact

I will post up what Deere finds, but so far- no news.

Update;

John Deere dealer said come pick up the tractor we replaced some parts.

Nephew just got the tractor home today... Is out testing now.

Relayed quote to me...

I do not think the root cause has been fixed..

more info when I actually talk to him -and he has put a few hours on the 3025.

Has he greased the pins? Does it do it continuously or just the first motion?

I would suggest greasing the loader and operating through the full range a few times to see if that makes any difference.

Yeah -Wish it was that simple

from post 5

So it will shudder while just sitting still with engine running. But actuating any FEL controls accentuates it

I was sure the dealer would isolate and correct the problem. Somehow the tractor is picking up a resonance or vibration, AND ONLY during last 10 hrs of operation.

Maybe engine mounts need tightening. These are torqued down at the factory, but sometimes one mount will get loose. All it takes is just one mounting bolt to loosen, and transmit vibration to the frame.

Armchair guess here, but in an open system the pump is still pumping fluid and returning at the same rate when nothing is being actuated. Starving or restriction seems a reasonable possibility for a shudder even when not moving. Is this a HST machine? Have the screens and hydraulic/trans filter(s) been replaced? My Kubota has two, but the hydraulic filter has a magnet on the input side. At my 50 service I replaced it and it was packed with shavings and shards. I've replaced all filters every ~50hrs or so and at 226Hrs, the magnetic seemed relatively clear. That's a lot of junk.

What did the dealer do?
