Nope. Worthless junk eastern pine. That trunk was on the ground for almost a year before I finally just bought a tractor to move it. I put a bunch of wood on the ground clearing some land last year thinking I was still 20-something and would move it all with a wheelbarrow. Turns out I'm not and between work and kids I only got about half of it cleaned up before I decided I needed some hydraulics in my life. ... Cleaned up most of the rest of the mess in about 6 hours.

For the sports fans keeping track that is half the work done in call it 10 months picking away a few hours at a time with my weekends. Then the other half the work done in two 3 hour sessions behind the stick of the loader over the course of two weekends. Force. Multiplier!

Yeah, the tractor was maxed out. I was planning to cut this trunk in half or skid it but was just delighted when the machine *just* lifted it to carry height. Perfect!
Never heard the term eastern pine but far as know there no such thing as junk pine unless its full of pine borers or full of nails, white pine is whats around here and its excellent building wood, some ponderosa pine or red, for some reason pine borers dont seem to bother those pines.

I'm not a sports fan but I know when FEL is involved more things get done in a shorter period of time because the force is multiplied with "Technology and Horsepower".

White pine. Correct. I know it as eastern white pine.

If you know someone that wants this send 'em my way. I don't have enough for a logging outfit to even make it worth them unloading their equipment.
From what I've seen most of it gets chipped and dumped. That's what happened when I hired a tree service to remove the stuff close to the house.
I won't burn it as I've seen too many chimney fires burning this stuff. Although with the surplus I have I'm considering it. We have campfire wood for the rest of our natural lives.
I'm using some of these trunks to build some natural play structures for the kids.

I don't have any white pine, mine is all yellow pine (Loblolly, Longleaf etc) and I love it, GREAT construction lumber! And as long as you burn it along with some hardwoods you will be fine, burn only pine and there will be consequences.

Guys,

The totes are modified so they are relatively easy to load and unload: BTW using the cut down plastic bin avoids having to dispose of it, increases capacity. acts like a little drying oven when totes are stored in the sun, and provides protection from snow and rain. The bin is zip tied to the frame.

The processor is made by Dyna:

DYNA SC-12 XP Firewood Processor | DYNA Products

There are videos on the site of how they operate. The one I rented had a live deck that I loaded with the grapple attachment...easy peasy. It also had the diesel engine option and sipped fuel. About 10 gal over 15 hours. It comes with three sets of saw chains. It takes about 20 minutes to change a chain the first time if doing it alone...a third hand helps a lot...LOL

Like I said, I will never manually process firewood again. In a previous thread, I looked at buying a faster splitter with a stationary wedge. It did not make sense for me to invest $4000+ for a "good" splitter when I can do the whole job of cutting and splitting for less than $40 cord without breaking a sweat. or maintaining a saw and splitter. (BTW, a "loggers" cord is a stack of logs 100" long and 4x4 ft.). I use 7 cords per season, so my processing cost is $300/year including fuel for the processor and tractor. And the big plus...I can keep using wood fuel for many more years. The only real "work" this year was stacking splits into the totes...about an hour per tote working alone....30 minutes with a helper.

As to the issue mentioned by a poster of "bending over", there is minimal bending as the tote can be lifted up with the forks. The most bending is getting splits off the ground when the pile gets low. With a helper sitting on a stool, they can lift the splits up off the ground and hand them to the person stacking. Time to stack with a helper should be about .30 minutes per tote (.45 cord).

GG, yes the pretty lady is my fiancé!!! The photo was taken weeks ago after we had completed the processing work. Sadly, we learned three weeks ago she has cancer so we are praying for a good outcome. She was ticked that I would not let her help me stack any totes and felt sorry for me working in the heat alone. But she was recovering from biopsies, and it made no sense to push things.

In my processor design, I had just planned on letting them drop off the chute into the totes. Like you, I find you fit a little less than 1/3 face cord if just dropped in.

By the way, I like the clever use of the plastic tote for a cover.
