That doesn't make sense to me. The pull tab end is the end that goes towards the pump. That's the side you don't want the air to go to. I guess if your grease gun could accept the tubes the other way around it would make sense.

Yes I got it backwards, heres the video from a guy in Ontario doing the country stile living, I watched a couple of his videos because he has a antique Case tractor like the one my father had and I was all caught up on my logging videos. I agree if using cheap grease and or grease thats not the right grease and using FEL all day every day. If I dont stay on top of mind before i know it those bucket pins are the first ones to start squawking/squeaking, the Mystick grease dont seem to last more then a day of bucket work.

My grease doesn't melt and settle in the tube anyway. If it melted and moved that easily it wouldn't stay in place on hot machinery very long.
I don't know if it's "melting" but I've been meaning for a long time to build a wall bracket for my grease gun that catches the "weepage" that ends up on my garage floor underneath it over time (both from the tip and the plunger).

With you down there in south Canada what did you expect grease to do. :) I know grease gives up some oils down here in KY on hot days.

The idea of "choosing just one grease" comes across as a lazy, irresponsible endeavor, ESPECIALLY, if others depend on using the equipment maintained so poorly.
Take a look at this:
Lever Action Grease Gun

Grease guns are cheap.
Equipment IS NOT!
I just bought a flail mower for $5500.00.
Should I use the grease specified by the manufacturer, or play it lazy and use the one and only grease I have limited myself to?
We use water proof grease, food grade grease, HP grease, general purpose grease and a couple more.
There are good reasons for all of the greases available and good reasons the manufacturers specified the ones that they did.

Just like multiweight oils, grease has evolved. You can safely buy a good quality multi purpose grease that will serve the purpose just fine.

Cheap grease guns like the one you linked will not last long being used on a regular basis - pay now or pay later.

For my limited use at home (a commercial front-mount mower and a SCUT with a FEL) I don't think it's a horrible compromise. The only concern really is the snowmobiles (wanting a specific low-temp, water resistant grease) but they don't see a lot of miles these days.

You can buy a grease barrel cap from Lock n Lube, wish I had known about it sooner.

Along with a grease coupler cap, should keep the weeping to minimum.

If you are looking for a new grease gun, I would definitely look at their new Easy Prime gun. Most of the advantages of the Lube Shuttle gun, but uses standard cartridges. I may give it try when they come out with the pistol grip version:
