No you are incorrect..."a wealth of research" is not a definitive clearing house of facts... there are only findings when it comes to the actual virus within the droplets that the research is akin to...yes you can say the droplets do this or don't do that but you can't say what happens with the covid microbes...

And as far as masks being "effective" there are NO definitive numbers...especially in real life scenarios not laboratory and emulated conditions and settings...

You need to face some facts that just because you want to believe something just because there is "some" evidence that supports it...does not make it so...

What amazed me is that most of my friends agree with me in almost all discussions that we have. Now I have read very many of the posts that /pine has posted and I agree with about 1/2 of them and disagree with the other half. I truly wish that we lived close enough together that we could meet over a beer and have a discussion over our beliefs so that I could relate to the discrepancies in our beliefs to understand what our true differentiates are. Understanding what your differences are is the key to human harmony. Impersonal internet contacts can never replace personal interactions.

I agree. It's hard to get someone's tone, inflection, expression, body language etc... in written only form.

My sister just got back from spending a month in Sweden and she said that many are angry about how bad the pandemic there has been mismanaged. She said that they are doing very little testing, and the WHO shows them now with a 6.75% death rate from confirmed cases. Most people there think that a lot more who have died were not tested and not listed as Covid. Sweden'e economy did better than some of its neighbors but they have lost a lot more citizens.

Think how they must be pissing and moaning in Belgium! Or New Jersey for that matter.

So if a codified law is on the books that you feel is unconstitutional, does that mean you will not uphold it? Per my example on the sheriff, all he was doing was playing for votes as he believes in rights when it comes to having a race with large crowds but doesn't believe in allowing protests being held because locally they (the protests) would be considered unpopular with his local voters.

The reality is we are already on a slippery slope with this whole crap pertaining to the new virus and ways as a society we are trying to curb it.

All that said, if a business has a sign up that they require a mask to be worn when entering their place of business, if you do not wear a mask and they kick you out, NO ONE'S constitutional rights have been violated. For some reason, as a society, we're stuck with the notion that the customer is always right.

As I noted before, I don't wear a mask for myself, but for others. The sad reality as a society we now want everything instantaneously and we rarely think about others because it's all about ourselves.

That is exactly what I’m saying. Officer discretion. There are hundreds of laws that are properly codified and not enforced. The chances of a mask mandate turning into actual law, is slim to none, at least in PA.

Very slippery slope, and I will not add any lube to it.

Business owner says leave, a person refuses, it’s no longer about a mask, it’s trespassing.

I wear one when required by the property owner. Absolutely refuse to do so outdoors. Also avoid people so....

We've been over this. Multiple times.

There are drastically different population densities between Sweden and other European countries, as well as travel pathways, etc.

For a more apples-to-apples comparison, look at Sweden (no lockdown) compared to their Scandinavian neighbors (lockdown) who have very similar population densities, lifestyles etc. What do we learn? (Data from today)

Deaths per 100,000

Sweden: 56.98
Norway: 4.93
Finland: 6.05
Denmark: 10.71 (Note, Denmark is on the mainland and so, again, travel is likely much more accessible - I don't know for sure, just an assumption)

So, what do we learn? Sweden has 10 times (!!!) the death rate of their neighbors. Not exactly a success.

Lol, you can’t be that clueless? If LEOs across America enforced every violation they observed, everyday, your 911 call would take a month to answer, and municipalities would be broke from OT in January every year.....

There are also societies that tend to care for their elders in the home, rather than farm them out. I'm sure this would have some effect on the death toll. Maybe one way or the other for that matter. If they lived in NY and the authorities sent COVID cases into the old age homes, that was bad!

So I think it's impossible to compare one country/society with another.
