Just been swamped lately.
Got parts to fix my old riding mower transmission, haven’t even looked in box yet.
Want to go see dad this weekend, but can’t seem to get caught up. Worked from home today, and still worked over. Did get one major thing accomplished. Work wanted something tested this week, not gonna get it done.

Nice weather outside today I hear. I threw on pants to come down and eat breakfast, never made it back up to finish getting dressed.

Drew, good to hear things getting somewhat back to normal.

Good evening all. 66F fir the star, clear sky, calm wind. Light wind today, sky stayed mostly clear, and high temp was 92F. Trip to Sherman first, bought gas 1.77/gal E10, later the station was 1.90/gal. Got paperwork delivered, pick up bike parts, and had lunch. Worked on Peugeot, quill was wrong size, bike shop reordered correct part. After dinner lubed chain on Volagi and went to fish club meeting.
Covid update: Cooke 283 confirmed cases, 7 active cases, Montague 96 confirmed cases, 11 active cases, Grayson 1344 confirmed cases, 93 active cases.
David nice haul from garden, Flushing facilities are always nice :D
Roy hope audit goes well inspite of people missing.
Eric not the whole world just friends from good Morning thread :)
Drew glad meat loaf turned out. Wife will drain meatloaf 1/2 or 2/3 cooking time to crisp the top. Meatloaf sandwich is good eating. Sorry about the address change issues, hate what the form looses the data or won't upload info then not tell you why. Cottage looks nice for temp living arrangement.
Randy, good one
Ron nice to have window trim done. Have fun trimming lawn. thanks for turkey chick update
RNG sorry about cable issues, understand about uninvited "guests"
Don nice looking okra, it is nice being close to Ref River here, most time some rain sneaks over, but not this year.
Randy are you sure you can't share some rain?
Ken good job laying low.
Ted, wish you would get rain. I remember when mom had to defrost the old chest freezer.
Billy Chamber of Commerce weather, glad you are catching up on mowing, how is Coco?
Ted good to hear tanks are gone.
PJ I think you are right MLK bridge connects to Broadway. Probably been 15 years since I had been across it, traffic backed up halfway across bridge.
Randy sorry about your war wound, and good to hear no new kittens :)
Dennis had heard some of Skillet's new stuff on radio, did no know anything about group.
Fish club meeting tonight messed with schedule hopefully catch up tomorrow.
prayers for all, especially Drew/move, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, Mike, David(Moss)/move, and Country
stay safe and healthy you all.

So when I sneak up on RNG to feed the lizards, I just need to wear a bright vest and hard hat....noted. :) (You do know I'm just kidding I hope)....I would never tempt your trained lizards away. :)

So just show up, with a helmet and riding gear, and maybe a day's notice, and we'll find something to entertain you. With regard to the lizards, that's up to them.

58 right now...high about 80 today...probably some rain

Yesterday's audit went OK, not great. one minor finding, one maybe minor (it's a finding about a corporate system we can't control...the company will get the finding, but not sure which facility will actually take the hit)
Early day today as the audit hits 3rd shift...that means an early out (probably around 1400) today. Yesterday was 0500-1630...

Good morning, a day of showers and high winds ahead for us. I had hoped to mow off some of the taller grass that is going to seed, but with standing water in many places, that will have to wait.

Something has been eating our sweet corn. My wife saw a squirrel running across the yard and wondered if that could be the culprit ?

Good news for all you hard working guys - the weekend is almost here !

Great news for all us retired guys, we can play today too !

Good morning all
71 going up to 83, fairly cool day for this time of year
need to drop off step ladder at storage locker this morning

got the awning lubed except for very top, ladder wasn't tall enough to do safely but when
rolling it in sounded quieter which is good. I also crawled under slide and mechanism is completely hidden, no exposed rails, but at least
was able to put some teflon lube on lower rollers, on which the whole thing is supported.
Need to remember to start up rv engine today and run it a little while.

Have some veggie meatballs to make for dinner, well I'll make the red sauce anyway. New can opener doesn't cut the top off, it cuts the sides at the very top.
Seems to work fine, though little concerned about any bits of metal left. Tiny little battery operated thing
Amazon.com: Electric Can Opener, Mini Restaurant Can Opener, Smooth Edge Automatic Electric Can Opener (White): Kitchen & Dining

Hope you all have a nice Friday.

Poured first cup of coffee. 55° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 87° with plenty of sun. Got trimming done. Then started on a siding repair on side of house. Need a trip to Menards too complete. Grocery shopping while I am out. Finish siding repair. Then back in house to stay cool.
Other birds like humming bird feeder.

Luther, if rain dance works. Please come to MI and do it for me.

Drew, best to not start chassis engine. Unless you are going to drive it. Put charger on chassis battery to keep it charged.

Roy, long day. Good that weekend is here.

Buckeye, hope you get some time to get rest.

RNG, i would be locked in house with smoke in house like that. Had to stop going to campfires because of reaction to smoke in air. Thanks for picture.

Don, Okra flower is nice.

Mostly, how is the fishing?

Bird, no coverall shorts? :D

Randy, sorry for the hand injury. Hope it heal quickly.

LS, idea on selling something used is like mine. 60 is a good starting point. Sometimes I try for 75% if there is a high demand.

PJ, still on a 4 day work week?

Jay, check in when you get a chance.

Everyone stay cool, healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

66 and foggy still...should see 84 and maybe storms.

Buppies, hope you don't get floods...saw the flood warning for the Blue Ridge due to heavy rain forecast.

Thomas, not sure I believe something is "bear-proof" so waiting for your evaluation.

Ron, that bird is a thief! ...or a hummingbird in costume :).

RNG, wishing for clean skies for you. That photo of the sun looks dreadful.

Mostly, nice gas prices. Coco is hanging in there, but still sick, at least gaining some weight back.

Randy, sorry about that cut.

Got everything mowed again, dropping the deck an inch to get back to normal, except the Coco field, where I had to mow at 5"...hope to get back to it today and knock off another inch or more. Need to make a dump run, diesel refill, and pick up some Coco meds and an oil filter for the mower and do 200 hour maintenance after the next mowing. Have some spraying to do if the wind cooperates after the dew burns off and it leaves me enough time before rain is predicted.

Good morning. Its 72° / 98% humidity this morning. Our high is forecast to get to 95° this afternoon.

We've got two tropical disturbances, pointing at the GOM now, so may be a busy week coming up.

The rolling ladder is nearing completion. The first step has a linkage assembly that used to lower a stop bumper to the floor as a brake. Need to modify the lower part of it .. as it's now in the way of rotation of the front casters.

Our Colorado County Commissioners initiated a county wide "Burn Ban" yesterday. It's been way to dry to burn brush piles for sometime so .. we have six large piles, in various pastures, plus several dead trees to section and add to the top of the burn piles.

Good morning! 70˚F heading to 97˚F, partly cloudy skies. It's been a month since I put up the weather station and still no good rain over .01". May need more wine for a really good rain dance.

Yesterday, at the gardens, I noticed that all 11 new raised bed gardens that we made during the winter now have owners. It was a slow start with Covid hitting in the spring, but things are getting back normal with Fall planting starting in a few weeks.

I need to place a root barrier between my shade tree and my garden. The tree canopy is just on the west side of my garden making the summer gardening bearable. I thinking some sort of metal barrier would work right on the outside of the cinderblock garden wall buried about 18", any ideas?

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:45AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 97F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday's forecast of sunny skies was optimistic at best; it looked more like a foggy English morning, without the dampness. Fires in Glenn county to the west have now consumed over 200,000 acres, and the winds have been carrying most of it here. No sign of it letting up anytime soon, so N95 masks are the order of the day. I agree, Thomas, the scene is very reminiscent of the Blade Runner movies. I tried to watch the sequel again last night, but it was so depressing I fell asleep on the couch.:(

A very park like setting, Thomas. Looks like your animal friends all appreciate your hard work.

Looks like you're getting close on the rolling ladder, Rick.

Fantastic gas price, Bruce. We're still well over $3 here.:(

Everyday is Saturday once you retire, Eric!

Hope your rain dance is for the kind without lightning, Luther!

Had to deliver the old gun safe, too, Ted. But better to have it gone even if it took a little more work.

I love my 4' fiberglass ladder, Drew. So light and easy to move. But it's taken forever for the hinges to loosen up, and the temptation to stand on the top is sometimes overwhelming. Is yours green, too?

Had a bit of luck yesterday when I was able to use the old CAT6 wire to pull a new one into place. But that's where it stopped, as I could find nothing wrong with the old one. And it still wouldn't work, even with new terminals installed and double checked for continuity and proper order. Time to chase down tech support at Unifi.

Good news though from the used van parts man: He has what I need, and is rounding up a few more bits. Prolly have 'em next week.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Morning to all,

We have had a couple of nice days this week highs in the 70's lows in the 60's,
but that's over going back to 80's and humid.

RNG is there a chance that your Unifi is looking for a null modem type cable,
good luck with the bureaucracy on your van.

Stay healthy to all

Good morning to all! No significant weather changes... still smoke haze, still hot, still no rain. Saw distant lightning last night, but according to weather radar, that storm was over 100 miles away.
August is usually our wettest month, as of yesterday, it is going for the record to be the driest in decades. Broke quite a few records for high temps, second hottest August on record, possibly could become the first.... not "good" records to be setting for sure.m

Ron, that is the biggest hummingbird that I have ever seen!

Thomas, I can see why the critters enjoy your place, quite serene!

Got the freezer all defrosted yesterday without issue. Took it outside and the hot temp had it melted down and dry within an hour!

I did not do anything else outside due to the heat and smoke... there was no breeze, so it was really stifling.

This morning I need to run a few errands, then I will go out to the shop... wifey wants a couple more shelves made. A nice leisurely project.

The neighbor painted the fence unroller yesterday, turned out nice. He asked "how do I keep it from getting scratched up from the fencing?" ..... he is going to cut a piece of ply for the bottom.... here are a few pics:

Good morning all- 72 going up to 86 and sunny

Got a small dead tree removed, used backhoe to plant a crape myrtle tree that wife bought. But still laying a bit low-----

RNG - good to hear you found the parts for the van
LS - fence roller looks good in blue-how to keep implements from getting scratched ??

Stay safe and be well

60°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 87° today. We're still looking like we're going to be dry through next weekend. I don't mind that at all.

Need to sharpen mower blades this weekend. Grass has grown slower this week without rain, so should be a faster cut.

Back in the day, Mostly_, the King bridge used to be a toll bridge. Sometime in the late '80s or early '90s, the state of Illinois took out the tolls when they completely refurbished the bridge. There's a low dip area on the Illinois side just before going up on the actual span, which is where the toll booths used to be, where the contractor built out a large shoulder area on both sides of the road with gravel. It was done so poorly that it became known as "The Gravel Pit," where even the lightest of vehicles would get hopelessly stuck and have to be towed out. No idea what they ever did to fix it, but I know it was like that for years, and may still be for all I know. I just don't use that bridge anymore since they built the new Musial Bridge for I-70.

The Eads Bridge is a neat old bridge, BEF. It was the first one built across the wider part of the river, and I believe remains the oldest bridge across the Mississippi.

Ron, I returned to 5-day weeks last week ... just in time to take off Friday for my birthday :D. This week is the first full 5-day week I've worked in a month-and-a-half, and I am definitely glad it's finally Friday.

More great pics, guys.

You guys in the hot and smoky areas take it easy out there.
