Well! Flooring is going great.View attachment 668280View attachment 668282View attachment 668281
1 room complete and hopefully the 2 smaller rooms today.
Air install still not right. Thermostat refuses to talk to unit. Several calls to Bosch and HP have resulted in no progress. This thermostat is needed in order to qualify for a substantial rebate, but not looking good for me.
Tech has been great as he was here all day sunday and most of the day yesterday. All free so far. Hopefully will be back today to finish.
Now that it is starting to get cold nights the oil burner has started with an issue. That tech is coming this afternoon.(will have 3 different companies here) I need to retire soon just to make the house available for repairs. LOL.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy. Wish me luck on the repairs!

Flooring looks great.
I assume they have to cut all door frames to fit under.
Who checks which thermostat you have for a rebate?
Most thermostats basically the same, except some control more functions.

Aunt and I are going site seeing today. No real plans. Just drive around the country side.
Finally got a picture of turkey and her chick. I am sure it is not my neighbors Guinea.

Best kind of day, take a drive and sight see without a plan.

Good Morning!!!! 83F @ 6:15AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Back into the 100s for the weekend, and most all of next week. At least the smoke is clearing a little more, but still not healthy breathing.

Pond looks nice, Paul, and what a relief. A post or two on Yelp! might help someone else avoid all that drama...

You can try starting out with a smallish tank, Ted, and just trade up to a larger one if you end up using it a lot. But if you're doing much TIG, you'll need pure argon for that, or helium if you're doing much thick aluminum. Then argon/25% CO2 for MIG and steel. So two bottles. I've worked my way up to the biggest bottles I can easily carry/lift into and out of the truck. Still not as big as we used to use at work.

That chick is growing up fast, Ron.

If I could figure out what size capacitor(s) to add to the A/C compressor, Ken, I'd be on it like a rooster on a June bug...

Monster watermellon, David. Be careful with that ibuprofen. Easy to get permanent acid reflux if you take it for too long or without food.

The county reported another 178 new CV19 cases over the weekend, bringing the total to well over 2000. The 18 - 24 age group now has nearly twice the population as the next largest, which is 25 - 34. And the only deaths are in the 65+ group. Yet somehow they're letting the barber shops open again, so I set up an appointment for next week.

Floor came out nice, Phil. Some thermostats need 5 wires, others 2 or 3. Depends on the furnace. Instructions should have come with the equipment/thermostat, and there shouldn't be any mystery to it if the person doing it can read...

I lost 20 pounds during my last move, David MFW. Took me most of a month, and almost 30 trips @ 3 hours each direction. What a way to start a retirement...

I wasn't getting ahead as I was trying to catch up this morning. You folks were posting as fast as I could read!

No nap yesterday afternoon; I didn't make it back from town until almost 2PM. Big flap at FedEx when they wouldn't ship anything in a beer box, and had to buy one of theirs and repackage the valve set. What a mess. But the hydraulic shop had the correct fitting for the tractor, and I scored five pounds of Hatch chilies at Safeway.:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool2: So I'll start the day roasting chilies before it gets too hot out. Ended up with a BenQ monitor, with an extended warranty. Should be here Friday.

Got a loose connection on the Vanagon's tach fixed before the trip, but now there's an intermittent alternator light on the dash. I can tell from my voltmeter that he alternator's working just fine, and the blinking seems more vibration/RPM related. I see some wire chasing in my near future...

Why not drill and tap the bottom and install a plug? Then you can change it regularly.

As soon as it’s fixed, I’m selling it , or giving to my dad.
It runs ok while cold. A dishonest person would have sold it as is.
You still have to take transmission off to fill it, no external reservoir like my old wheel horse, and you won’t get the plug out while it’s on the tractor.
These things are not made to be serviced.

Of why not just use a little manual suction pump, as I've done? In fact, I guess I still have that little pump.

Good morning to all! Low of 50, only going for a high temp of 76 today! Woohoo! Chances of a shower this afternoon. Low tonight now forecasted for 44. All of this will be short lived.... temps back to the 90's by the weekend.

PJ, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Enjoy your dinner together! Oh, nice pond, they did a great job.

Ron, nice turkey pic, I would think the chick would be bigger by now....

Drew, thanks for posting the tractor video. Looks like there is a good air ride setup in the cab. At first it is strange to see the 3 point setup in front, but then remember that most European tractors are made that way. I can understand the reason for it, but do they have to plow in reverse?

Randy, I have never had gas hooked up to my mig / wire feed also. Only used the flux core wire. It is said that using gas, Mig welding is much cleaner and easier. For TIG welding, it is a requirement to use gas...

Ken, were you able to find the leak?

Some errands again today, one to get a couple of 220v 50amp plugs to make a heavy extension cord for the welders. Then maybe finish pulling the additional 220 circuit in the shop, got started last week, but never finished it.

Everyone have a great day!

Of why not just use a little manual suction pump, as I've done? In fact, I guess I still have that little pump.

The oil in it was just replaced 2 yrs ago. It looks good and clean. I have one of those suction things, never used it.
The real solution is what Don said, buy one that has a drain to start with.
This was not an entry level husqvarna from a box store, but a “better” model with a welded deck from a mower dealer. Yet it still had the same basic entry level transmission. Live and learn. I got over 10 yrs from it and with rebuilt transmission should go for 10 more. Does need new battery. Also needs a safety switch replaced, just not sure yet which one. I jumpered across a couple to “fix” that issue.

Good afternoon, the weather is gorgeous here, with just a few fluffy clouds and a temperature that was perfect for wandering around a nearby town this morning in just shirt sleeves. First time we have been inside a shop together in many months.

Kyle, I have quite a strong Yorkshire accent, which is no problem in the North of England but a rare thing where I now live. Thanks to films and tv shows, the locals around these parts will have far more experience of hearing a wide variety of American accents than mine, so it may actually be quicker if you order the beers while I just smile at the barmaid and pass over my credit card - plastic is a wonderful universal translator.

PJ, great to see the major landscaping reach completion and congrats on your 17/7. I would be hoping the lead time on the neighbor's Chevy was long enough to be in with a chance of a second helping of peach crumble :licking:

About 5-6 weeks ago, I think I wrote about finding a lady's wallet ....... got a card and a very sweet thank you note from her yesterday
Roy, you would never guess it if you only read the news headlines, but this world has lots of very good people, just like that lady - and you.

Thanks, and yeah, we've planned to write a few reviews here and there. We just wanted to wait until the whole thing was done. You know, not jinx ourselves. We'll probably sit down this weekend and gather all the details, then start writing.

He did great work for us when he built the new retaining walls around our walkout basement. Then, the next smaller project didn't go as well. The pond, of course, was a complete disaster. Whenever The Wife would chat with him either on the phone or via text messaging, he always assured her that we were at the top of the list on his white board. She popped into his office one day after not hearing from him for awhile, and discovered that not only were we not at the top of the list, we weren't on the board at all. That was the proverbial straw, when it was obvious he had no intentions of finishing it. I won't feel at all bad about writing an honest review of our experiences with him.

I used gas for 35 years, but I found that the only benefit was a nicer bead, the flux core actually penetrates better.

73F and partly cloudy @ 11:00, high of 85F predicted for the day.

Lawn has really greened up and is growing again, more rain expected over the next few days ... will need to cut again by Friday/Saturday.

Hauled trimmed branches up to burn pile yesterday first thing, then got new hosta unloaded from van, and watered:

IMG_1054 copy.jpg
IMG_7378 copy.jpg

Cleaned up more leaves and debris and hauled to compost pile and incorporated.

Took string trimmer for a walk along driveway, shop, a few other plantings, and Nestbox No. 3.

Dug out dead redbud stump and hauled down a couple more bucketloads of screened topsoil for planting beds.

With the grass cut down around the upper catch basin, need to work on filling in around that. Use bentonite to seal. Water buffalo will need refilled.

Also may need to remove straw on lower catch basin now that grass has come in, water it, and see if any areas need resown.

Probably need to pick up a couple of bags of sand for the planting hole for the ginkgo tree.

Possibly finish plantings/transplants in northwest planting bed today.

Get mums planted in containers.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Roy, you would never guess it if you only read the news headlines, but this world has lots of very good people, just like that lady - and you.

What makes the news is really a tiny tiny bit of what’s going on and does not reflect the real situation. Even then it’s slanted in the worst possible light to create sensationalism in order for news stations to generate viewership. When the locals in Kenosha came out and defended their town ( cause the mayor wouldn’t) that ended most of what’s happening there. But the instigators just move to another location.

One of the guys had a suction syringe to extract the oil like Bird was talking about.
They already had the oil changed so I could go straight to trenching and root cutting. IMG_3950.JPG

No mention of a refrigerant based dryer? Or maybe cold is just the first step to drop out the water? Hard to imagine that a desiccant would be enough, or have the capacity. As long as there's a rotor or piston involved, there will be some oil in the air, too. Be interesting to see what they end up with, and how they measure the output to know it's working.

And yes, you do end up with the coolest junk!:cool2:

Back when pneumatic controls ran all types of plants we always used desiccant dryers for instrument air,
we always had oil separators and filters prior to the dryers.
Depending on were the plant was located would have a lot to do with the dewpoint setpoints for the dryers,
usually at least 10-20 degrees colder then the ambient temperature would get down to.
They would maintain that year round so as to never have water dropping out in low points of the piping.
In many pharmaceutical plants the pharm air systems are set to -40 these systems may have a combination of refrigerated
drys filters and desiccant dryers. The desiccant dryers where the final dryers before the pharm air filters, usually 0.1 micron filters.

Desiccant dryers are normally setup as a pair with one in service and one being regenerated,
they are regenerated by heating while flowing a bit of clean dry air thru them,
I have seen the heat being every thing from electric resistance rod heaters to tubing coils with steam or hot oils.

69°F and .64 inches rain last 24 hours.

Overriding plan is to follow Dr instructions and not aggravate my back. Not sure how, but suspect that means curtailment of most physical stuff.

Planning on turning latest bounty of tomatoes into a nice pot of spaghetti sauce.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Had .2” rain in gauge yesterday when I got home, was still light rain so I didn’t dump it.
It was just pouring a little bit ago. This is a good soaking rain, not a passing shower.

Now at .5”

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 78° today. Looks like we're starting to get into the roller coaster temperatures already; 87° by the end of the week, then back to the 60s and 70s next week. Expecting some rain here this afternoon.

Wife and I are marking our 17/7 anniversary today; 17 years back together, 7 of them married. Planning to celebrate with dinner this weekend at the winery where we were married. Luckiest guy on the planet.

Good luck with the test, Roy.

Floor looks good, Phil. Nice work.

Congrats to you and Mrs, Paul.
