Looking to buy a used Toolcat, can anyone give me some suggestions on what years to stay away from ? My biggest wants are power dump bed, power quick tach and high flow. Did these come certain year's or were they always options ? Thanks in advance !

Always options as far as I know. my only suggestion is, LOOK FOR RUST. does not matter what year they can all rust and that is the big issue. I have an OLD 2005, low hours, been fantastic. that is the only opinion I can offer.

my 2005 had rust in the doors and floor, replaced the metal but rust was everywhere, real pain taking anything apart with the odd bolt shearing off, the machine worked great just rusty, when the box sides rusted thro it was time to trade it off

regardung options, the 2020 model ordered I recall even the enclosed cab was not standard, as was heat and AC, which makes me ask anyone ever seen a Toolcat with no cab enclosure

having owned one that was used for spreading salt for several years prior to me purchasing I would stay away any machine used for this purpose regardless of how it looks, mine was a clean unit, the box and floor was repainted and decaled, in less than a year the rust was back and new paint starting to peel

I hear ya, I'd say 50% of what I look at is rusted and these things are very overpriced. Also, quite a few have no buckets, which I can't figure out. And it seems like most have 66inch buckets, so I'm wondering if we are limited to a special Toolcat bucket and where the **** would you find one, as I'm sure a new one is crazy money ?

Nope, not a special bucket. I'm running basic 66" general purpose Bobcat skid steer buckets. Just the normal SSQA attachment method.

Interesting concerning the rust problems. I got lucky with the used one I bought a few years back. The only issue I had was the the big awkward door. I had never driven one before I was the winning bid on an online auction.

I disliked it so much I resold it Immediately after straightening out the 4 in 1 bucket. I picked up a little over $10K on the resale so the tale had a happy ending.
