I keep having this problem with my 3-point hitch. It goes up-down no problem. I don't use it for a few months and then it's stuck in the up position. Nothing changed - I didn't touch the adjustment knob at any point. I pulled the plastic covers off the area under the seat. I also pulled the seat and the remaining covers. I loosened the control valve (the one that the flow control knob connects to) and hydro fluid spilled out and the 3-point hitch dropped. I replaced the control valve (JB part number LVA800304) at a cost of $1,887.90 (ouch). That seemed to fix the issue. However, got the tractor back out after sitting this winter and I have the same problem. 3-point hitch stuck up. So again I loosened the control valve and the fluid spilled out and the hitch dropped. I reassembled without replacing anything and it works perfect again. It's like there is a sticking valve somewhere. Any suggestions?

is it stuck up with out an implement attached ? I usually leave an implement attached to mine and it gradually drifts down but also have nothing attached but not all the way up.
BTW it's a 2720 same as yours except a little more hp

I'll suggest to solve the problem of 3 pt sticking up why not park tractor with 3 pt in lowered position.

I store it will the 3-point in the up position without any attached implements and I've done that for 10 years. It never drifts down and I bought it brand new. I will try to store with the 3-point down and see if that makes any difference. I hate to take it to the JD dealer with an intermittent problem because that's the hardest and most costly to solve. It's frustrating to get the tractor out to mow the field only to discover the 3-point isn't working.

Were you ever able to determine what was keeping your 3 point from operating correctly? I'm having the same issue with mine. Had it at the dealer last time it happened and they weren't about to find an issue. Went to use it again after a few months and now it is stuck in the up position again.

I would start by disassembling, inspecting, and cleaning out your rock shaft control valve. It controls the flow of hydraulic fluid out of the rock shaft/3 point piston/cylinder assembly and cuts off the flow altogether and locks the 3 point when the knob is run all the way in. If that's sticky/clogged up it could keep the fluid from draining out of the cylinder and cause it to stay up.
