Significantly better today and car was wet with dew this morning...

For decades anytime we had windfall oak people would line up to eagerly haul it away for firewood.

That all stopped about 30 years ago and wood burning now is not permitted on cold winter nights, new homes cannot have fireplaces and there is a bounty to remove existing... so wood just left to rot.

Wood burning bad, natural gas bad, oil furnaces bad...

calif want to ban natural gas (already started), they pretty much put the kabash on wood burning, they are pushing for all electric heat. now add that to their hatred of hydroelectric and nuclear power, that leaves wind power and solar. so in the future when its smoky or cloudy or night time, and there's no wind. i guess they will all be left shivering in the dark?

ill still be warm in my hydroelectric powered house, burning wood in my fireplace....looking at the stars in my (hopefully) soon to be blue, clear sky's.

Times that try the soul... heard all kind of reactions to the last 30 days of lightning, fire, smoke, Covid... etc.

A little rain would go a long way to raise spirits and clean the air and dampen fires...

Some will... One family I know is at every protest and demonstration are freaked out by the fires...

They mentioned this week they are zeroing in on relocating from SF to Idaho which very much surprised me...

I did mention how difficult it could be protesting in sub zero temps and snow drifts and their electric cars may not perform well in freezing temps.

Unfortunately, there is a grain of truth to Hay Dude's post - #182. Over the 38 years I've been here there have been real estate agents who have visited. They came as friends and not to push their trade. At least two of them have later said - "if you ever want to sell, get in touch with me. I would list your property in CA and CAN GUARANTEE you will get 3X to 4X greater value there than you could here in Ea WA state". We have alway laughed this off. I'm not in a position to sell and, God willing, never will be. Like my father who passed this land on to me - this land will pass to my son.

However - not everybody out here is in that exact situation and BIG $$$$ has a way of changing minds and dreams.

if they head to Boise they will probably fare well. If they head to north idaho, i hope they dont need friends. People up here just want to be left alone. When people try to push agendas, they find out real fast how lonely feels.

Good news on at least some rain... of course too much in fire areas poses another set of problems...

Residual ash everywhere but nothing new on the cars today...

As far as relocation I think there are issues everywhere but some can be greatly reduced...
