West Coast Smoke, UGH!

Unfortunately, there is a grain of truth to Hay Dude's post - #182. Over the 38 years I've been here there have been real estate agents who have visited. They came as friends and not to push their trade. At least two of them have later said - "if you ever want to sell, get in touch with me. I would list your property in CA and CAN GUARANTEE you will get 3X to 4X greater value there than you could here in Ea WA state". We have alway laughed this off. I'm not in a position to sell and, God willing, never will be. Like my father who passed this land on to me - this land will pass to my son.

However - not everybody out here is in that exact situation and BIG $$$$ has a way of changing minds and dreams.

We have had big, albeit local, changes in my area. Our school board is mostly democrat and shames the few remaining republicans into voting with them.
Very recently, we had our high school nickname of 75 years (Indians) taken from us. We’ve had to pay hundreds of thousands to have walking trails and other projects built. They end up rarely used. Just another chance for them to virtue signal that they want us all to be healthy. Meanwhile we already have dozens of seldom used walking trails.
There’s never any cuts, they keep voting to increase school budgets, projects scopes and of course the taxes go up with them.
They pass the changes, then move on to another town a few years later and repeat the same thing.

The last two mornings we've had hazy orange sunrises. By 3 p.m. it starts looking more like evening. I don't wear a watch and use outdoor conditions to know what time it is. This is throwing me off by about two hours.

Kinda wonder if it has a similar effect on wildlife?

if they head to Boise they will probably fare well. If they head to north idaho, i hope they dont need friends. People up here just want to be left alone. When people try to push agendas, they find out real fast how lonely feels.

I wish you luck. 30 years ago Jackson Hole was a typical small Wyoming town based on ranching and tourism.

It’s called Jacksafornia now by the rest of the state. The skinny jean man bun crowd that work from their mc mansions in the forest has forced hard working families that built the town, into submission through gaining control of the county and city governments.

Beware.

Yes, sorry to hear that.

The weather report down here says a couple of days window while the wind comes in from the southwest then the wind from the north will resume, and we'll return to the usual apocalypse levels.

News says the smoke has reached Chicago, NYC, now Europe.

I'm in Northern Missouri. Haven't had blue sky for four days. Makes for pretty sunrise/sunset though.

We haven’t had a smokeless day for a month. Some days it’s just hazy, most days it’s very noticeable.

Still not as bad as the 88 Yellowstone fires.

Beautiful clear morning sunrise here in north central Indiana this morning. First time in a couple weeks.

After 3 days of dark red, dull sunrises and sunsets, we have totally clear skies again in southern Michigan and I was blinded driving east to work this morning. Stars were out and bright last night.

My friends and fam in the bay area are overjoyed with their pure clean air from the onshore flow. Hope it lasts, and hope the rain can knock these fires out.

This is usually my least favorite time of year to drive to work, as the sun is now rising almost directly in the east on my way to work, and blinds me. However, after the last couple weeks of gloom, I'll take it. :)

Here in the foothills (2400') - about 50 miles East of Fresno - the air is poor to bad depending on which way the winds are blowing that day. Some days we feel we need to wear masks outside - but we are staying inside a lot.

We have not seen the sun other than the red ball for a long time. Our solar panel production is about 25% to 30% of what we expect each day. This is due, of course, to the filtered sun and also to the ash which accumulates on the panels. I clean them every few days with deionized water, and periodically with a complete wash - soap, water, brushing. Also need to spray the garden plants from time to time as light ash accumulates there.
