Have a 485di and have developed a clutch issue. This weekend I was using it around the house (mainly using fel) light weight work, nothing major. Towards the end if the day the clutch started acting funny, similar to coming out of adjustment. Sunday morning I go out to check/adjust the clutch pedal and found it to be correct. Pushed to pedal to check function and absolutely NO clutch pressure. If it wasn't for the return spring it would stay on the running board. Didnt believe the plates to be stuck together since I had been using the tractor but tried the several different ways the unstuck clutch plates i found online, nothing. Checked to see if somehow I had broken the clutch shaft but it moves equally on both sides of transmission as should. Im starting to think it may be a broken clutch fork or sheared keystock. Any other ideas?? Never split a tractor before (done all kinds of other mechanic work) and really dont want to if theres another alternative. Also, can't find a shop manual for this tractor anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated

See if your tractor has an inspection plate somewhere around the bellhousing. Either on the bottom or on the sides. Something that may allow you to have a visual inspection on the fork.

So it's similar to mine. I also have a plate on the bottom, but can take a peek on the fork if I get the angle just right. You may need another person to press the clutch while you look down there.
Clutch fork moves as it should. Looks like the clutch is just stuck. I tapped on it quite a bit with a 2lb hammer and bumped it around so I could tap in various locations abut it didn't give up. Any ideas on how to get it to release? Really dont want to split it if I don't HAVE to

it's stuck allright. Ever bother to grease the throwout bearing? Don't look like it and it's rusty in there too. Only way I know of to unstick a stuck clutch disc without splitting a tractor is find a stout tree and chain it to the drawbar with some slack in the chain, put it in a higher gear than 1st, gas it and when it gets to the end of the slack, it will break loose (clutch pedal depressed of course). Either it breaks loose or it breaks the chain or uproots the tree.
Haven't had this tractor very long at all, so no, I myself have not greased it. I tried the stabbing the breaks while rolling etc but didn't try chaining it to a tree though.........

Brakes won't do it. You need a sudden and hard stop. Just make sure the pedal is pushed in all the way (for obvious reasons).

Well since it has the gap now im gonna grease the **** out of everything on the chance it does pop loose. In the time I've had it I've pushed alot of dirt/rock, pulled stumps etc and the clutch has never slipped. Never really had a problem till this
