I think maybe he means he'd consider renting and not having to pay home-owner's insurance.

Unless he's talking about being self-insured, in which case, I agree with you. Even though our house is only worth around $100k, our insurance is under $1K per year. That's a lot of years to go with no claims to break even.

Our current house is worth about $100k. Just checked with insurance agent last week (since we added on to the garage) about coverage. They estimate it will cost $235K to rebuild this $100K house, and we pay less than $1K per year in premiums. I'm happy to spend that every year for peace of mind.

well, im mortgage free..actually debt free, but i still have insurance. too chicken to try without it.

My philosophy. If you cannot afford to replace an item today, it should be insured.

That is a very nic pic!!!!! The ole Aeromotor sets it off beautifully!!!! Wonder how many smokey days that ole kid has saw? :)
