Wild hogs are not native to North America. They are native to Siberia and the Northern countries in Europe, where they do very well in winter. Hogs are unable to cool off on their own. They do not sweat, or pant, or have any way to control body heat, so they have to find a cool place to get through the heat of the day. In winter, they become more active. I had a pet pig that was born wild and he would break the ice to get into the pond and fall asleep laying on the snow. I'm not aware of them ever being too cold.

Well actually these are "feral" hogs, not "wild" hogs... these are mostly pigs that have escaped from their little farmyards , not "Russian Boars" brought in from somewhere although there are probably a few of those mixed in and bred with these.. So many claim "Russian Boars" mostly cause it sounds better or something.

He passed away the beginning of August, a week before turning 10.

Parts of the country has more problems with hogs then they do with snakes.

Mostly because of the pigs..

I personally don't think we have a problem with snakes, but the pigs keep the snakes away from the house, chickens, pets, etc.

My cats will go after the snakes around my house and barn. They don't kill them most of the time, but do go after them. When we see them will kill the snake as he says 'thank you'. Never had a cat bit by a snake that I know of. Did have a dog bit. No pigs at my place yet, but a lot close by.

Around here we call tree stands like that a [tree condo] . Well a condo hunting blind . You get my point . mybe start a tread show use your tree stands. Looks great !:drink:

We've been calling it the sniper tower... I think its just my old guy tree fort, or clubhouse or something! I got started and it just kinda got away from me!:drink:
