Yes deer tend to keep their eyes peeled at all times, it is their weakest sense so they have to keep the eyes looking everywhere. If it's dark inside, the glass will act more like a mirror, even better if the sun is in their eyes. Since it's been up a while, hopefully they are not too skiddish around the structure this fall. They will get used to it being there.

Yeah, we sat up there for a while a couple evenings ago and had deer come out no problem... It IS about 350 yards to the end of the clearing so they don't pay much attention from there, closer ones maybe, but while we were sitting up there I had one come out at about 20 yards..

I had a 4 pointer stare at me this morning, he was chilling with a 2 pointer, a couple does and a couple youngins. He wasn't too big, but he was bold with his "ladies". It was about 50ー, the weather is finally feeling like September.

Yes, it is getting into the sixties at night here.. feels pretty good.
I probably still wont start hunting for a while though ... unless the pigs show up!

This one is about 7x9.. I have 2 -2x4 windows, a 2x5 window and a 2x6 windows... Its part deer stand, part fun house, part sniper tower, and just a place to hang out sometimes. I feel the deer don't pay near as much attention as one might think. I see way more deer than I shoot, and I like to play with them sometimes... I'll wave to them, talk to them, make other odd noises just to see what they will do, normally they will stare in my direction for a bit then just carry on with what they were doing. On occasion one will run off but not to often.
And if the windows get to big I can always hang dark curtains or something, but once you make the windows small.. its hard to make them bigger.

I like your deer a lot better then the deer that I have here. Mine are supper skittish and always alert. They run off on the slightest sound or movement. I blame the wild hogs, they are everywhere and they seem to drive the deer crazy with their noise and constant movements. I've lost interest in shooting hogs. I will if I see one, but I rarely put any effort into it anymore. A friend has been hunting them here since the Lock down in March and he just shot number 101 on Saturday. We're seeing more deer, so it's working, but there are still a lot of hogs out there. Last night he saw over 20 on one of his game cameras that send pictures to his cell phone. He has six cameras on my place to know when they are here.

I ran a deer ranch in Lampasas Texas for a number of years, did a lot of hog eradication back then! Lots of hams and bacon.

Here there aren't so many of them and I like them showing up.. they dont effect the deer population much if at all.

I'm sure they are, but I don't think they'd weather the winter very well up here. I guess like anything they will adapt eventually, but I don't see them "wanting" to come to the cold weather if they have nice warm climate down there. Our deer aren't skiddish until the 2nd day of hunting season. They know somethings up when there are tons of people suddenly in the woods, then they relax in December again. A few years ago, I had my eye on this nice 12 pionter, what a beautiful symmetrical rack. Then the first day of the season, one side had been broken off, too bad, would have looked nice on the wall, but he looked just fine in the freezer!!

Yeah, I wouldn't want to weather the winter up there either!:)

Wild pigs do quite well up here in southern Sask. Canada. They will adapt to their surroundings. Not a lot, but they do damage. As far as I know, open season on them.
