Snow snakes are real things and not hoses.

Something about the way it falls or blows onto a branch and the freeze/thaw cycle.

They lay there waiting for some unsuspecting snowshoer to pass underneath, then they Pounce!!!

Don't ever forget that your coondog is tied to the tailgate when you drive off. They can run 30 mph but only for a few blocks.........

Don't ever forget that your coondog is tied to the tailgate when you drive off. They can run 30 mph but only for a few blocks.........

When I got my first dog I used to tie her out at whatever side of the truck was in the shade. I heard a lot of jokes about Chevy Chase' "Summer Vacation" but to me it was like somebody forgetting that their kid was in the car. We now know how that turns out...
Anyways I was talking to somebody who had done exactly as you describe; tied his hound to the rear bumper while they planned their next hunt then drove off, forgetting about the dog tied to the bumper. It didn't end well.

I still tie my dog to the truck on occasion, but now I simply put the rope under the door and close it, or leave the window down and tie it to the steering wheel. More often I just leave the engine running.
