I live in the Finger Lakes region of N.Y. (rural Bristol Hills) where we have about 100" of snowfall per year. I have been researching the purchase of a SCUT since early August for primarily mowing and snow blowing. I have 2 acres of hilly land, of which I mow about 1.25 acres. My driveway is 300' long and fairly steep, so 4WD was important as my current John Deere X500 struggled at times snow blowing heavy wet snow.

I had narrowed my list of SCUTS to the Kubota BX2380, Massey Ferguson GC1723 and the Kioti CS2210 all with a mid mount mower and front snow blower (I also priced out the John Deere 1025, the Mahindra Emax S, LS MT122 and Yanmar SA221). After receiving quotes from numerous dealers on all three makes, I had it down to the Kioti CS2210 the Kubota BX2380 and in distant third, the Massey GC1723. The best price I got on the Kubota was $15,411, the Massey $15,817 and the Kioti $14,995 (a local dealer sells both Massey and Kioti and the lowest quotes were from it). I test drove the Kubota, which was a nice machine, but due to the lack of inventory, I was unable to drive the Kioti to compare, as my local dealer had none in stock.

I waited until this past Thursday (2 months after my initial contact with the dealer) to drive the Kioti when one finally arrived. I was impressed with the machine and drove it up and down some steep hills similar to my property. The CS handled it well and is overall quite a step up from my X500. The sales manager asked me if I wanted to drive the Massey, but I declined as I was set on the Kioti. We negotiated the price and he quoted me $14,000, which I liked, so he put it on hold for me. I then asked him about the availability of the snowblower and he said he had none in stock, but an order had been placed for one. I asked when it would be arriving and he said he had no definite time. He called his Kioti sales rep while I was there, but was unable to reach him.

Stopping by the dealership today (Sat), the sales manager said he had gotten a hold of his rep yesterday, but no availability date was given as to when a snow blower would arrive. The sales manager tried to contact the Kioti sales rep several more times this morning, but he got bupkis.

I said I wanted to purchase the CS2210, but needed to know what he thought of the chances of getting the snow blower by November, when winter usually starts around here. He kind of made a "Gheesh" sound, which told me all I needed to know, as it didn't look promising. The sales manager then said since the rep hadn't called him back, it wasn't a good sign. With the current state of the world, I thought it would be best to switch gears, so I asked him about the Massey. He said he had everything in stock (deck and snow blower), went over the entire tractor with me and pointed out a few differences from the Kioti. I drove it around the place, up and down the hills realizing it is also a nice tractor, although I didn't notice any significant difference from the Kioti. It does have better joystick placement, more metal parts and a tilt steering wheel. I have friends who are farmers and having purchased tractors from this dealership, they have nothing but good things to say about them, plus the dealership is fairly close to my home. The sales manager was extremely helpful and cordial, plus was willing to negotiate. (He also said sales had been strong all summer, as they currently are. Interestingly there was a gentleman in speaking with him as I waited today, who was interested in buying the Kioti CS2210 that he had on hold for me)

Having everything in stock on the GC1723 changed my mind about buying the Kioti (a bird in the hand thing), so after some negotiations I was able to get it for $14,500, down from the original quote of $15,817. I don't know if this is a good deal, but from all the quotes I got on all the various brands, it was significantly lower than everything but the Kioti, so I am happy!

It will be delivered next Friday and I look forward to owning my first tractor! I thought I was going to go Orange, but ended up seeing Red.

Congratulations on the new tractor! Remember, pics are mandatory!:D
When I was shopping a few years ago, my choices were narrowed down to a Massey 1720 or the LS125. Ended going LS due to being $1k cheaper. I really liked the Massey, I think you got a really good deal!

Congrats on the Massey! I also have the Massey GC1723 and I love it so far. I got it May 1st. My situation is very much like you. Hilly, 350 foot driveway and mow about 80% of it. Once you get it you will want to make it yours by adding things. I have wheel spacers and have my rear tires filled, moved my turn signals to the inside so trees don稚 snap them off. Added led spotlight lighting to the roll bar and switched out all the incandescent bulbs to led bulbs to make it brighter. Added a clip to the seatbelt to keep it from ratcheting tighter on your stomach as you go up and down hills. I grooved my R4 tires to hopefully help give me a little more traction in the snow. I notice it is better in the wet grass than it was before. Haven稚 had it in snow yet. I am getting ready to add a skid plate to it to protect the transmission filter and fan. I know it seems like a lot I’ve done to it but I like doing it. I made a grapple for it and converted a snow blade to fit the ssqa on the front end loader arms. Good luck with it and I hope you have fun with it as well, I know I am.

Thanks to everyone for sharing congratulations and your experiences. When I priced different brands, the LS quotes were the highest, which surprised me. The John Deere 1025 was second highest, which didn't surprise me. It was interesting seeing how the prices of the same brands differed from dealer to dealer. One local Kubota dealer was almost $1700 higher than another for the BX2380.

Hopefully, the 4WD will help on the hills and snow blowing as I never needed chains with my X500. Friends have recommended the turf tires, but the dealer has recommended the R4 tires, so hopefully the R4's with the 4WD will work. If I have issues, I'll consider grooving the tires seeing coolconnection's positive results in wet grass.

I'll post pictures when I get it, which hopefully is this coming Friday. The sales manager said believe it or not the service techs were going full bore with new machines and servicing. I also found the sales experience better than buying a car as I didn't feel any pressure by any of the dealers/sales people.

Congrats on the new Tractor, I love mine so far and work it most weekends. Moving dirt and removing a few tall bushes this weekend.
