Reasons not to buy an RTV 1100C?

An RTV x1100C should have a hand throttle installed from the factory. I’m pretty sure all of them do.

I had the smallest model with the HST, the RTV 500 with the 2 cylinder gas engine. I went up and down some of the steepest mountains I have ever been on, all between 7000 and 10500 ft. I specifically bought it because I was planning to move to Colorado. Unfortunately that is now off the cards and I finally sold the RTV 500 last year. It was really perfect for the application. For the very steepest hills, I put her in low range and as others have said, you need to learn to use the pedal since it is a HST pedal and thus flooring it when the going gets tough is not how it works.... For "MOST" people this is very unintuitive...

The fuel consumption was really great compared to any sort of full sized truck or jeep, I never used more than 5 gal a day. Its biggest limitation was that it had little ground clearance for deep snow and once the pan starts compressing snow underneath you are done. I never bought any plow for mine, had I moved I would have bought a set of tracks for it. Pricey at $4k-6k but with them nothing is going to stop you.

Elevation is going to cut about 27% of your power. A quick rule of thumb is 3% per 1,000 foot rise in elevation. That is going to be your downside - you will have an 18 horsepower engine in Colorado at your elevation. Peak torque will also fall off from 72 to about 53 lb-ft. You will really be wishing for a turbo. You need to find out from a Kubota dealer in the area what the common practice is.

I live in East Texas. Dont know if our Kubota dealer is as "UP" on the needed mods as one at high elevation would be.
But surely they could coordinate with a Colorado dealer to do the correct setup ?

Good stuff Rick. I'll try to remember that equation regarding HP and elevation.

I Googled this a few years ago and found all kinds of mods. Most were wrench guys building their own Turbo kits. A lot of problems with regulating the fuel to prevent burning pistons. There is also an aftermarket company that sells do it yourself kits. Can't remember the name. Users seemed to have real good luck with those.

I purchased an 1100C this year on the flat it is GREAT.
Climbing hills it is a dog at around the 5000+ above sea level.
I found out that if I turn the AC off put it in low and feather the gas peddle it does much better but it is still very slow going up steep hills.
as stated in a previous post stomping the peddle to the floor actually hurts your power and speed going up hills.
I purchased mine for my Girl and the factory cab Heating /AC is the way to go for her and we have made other property owners in our area a bit envious for the Cadillac UTV the we have.
we only encounter the steep hills when we go visit neighbors and we do not have them on the property we own so putting up with a bit of slowness when we visit others is not a problem for us (yet).
Evjoy what you have and if it is not a good fit for your needs sale it or trade it in on something that will fill your needs.

I encourage anyone considering a Kubota diesel RTV to drive one prior to purchase. If your in the market for high travel speeds you should consider the gas sidekick or another brand. I love my workhorse 1120 to do chores on the property. I have no need for high travel speeds and with my grandkids using it, I’m glad it doesn’t go fast. They literally weigh a ton and pull like a tractor. It satisfies my needs but perhaps you need something else

I did get the unit. Been putting around a but in it , I do like it very well,
I named it the "Texas Turtle" Will have to make a trip to our property with it to see if it will climb that hill.
Keep your fingers crossed!
