2210 rebuild fresh start

I rebuilt just the bottom end due to the crank breaking while idling in the driveway, not exactly sure why that happened, just want to make sure there are no other anomalies if I can.

WOW. Were there other problems with the crank prior? How did the governor look when you had the bottom apart?

I've done this 2X with my YM2610. No issues. Most if not all the refurb dealers also do this. Ideally, On-Road Diesel with LOW SULFUR works the best. Not K1 Kerosene or Off-Road dyed diesel either.

The clean the reusable hydraulic filter, diesel and a med-toothbrush is used in a 5-gallon bucket.

Others can chime in here too.

You realize for like a decade now all on road, off road and home heating oil are all ULSD. They no longer make seperate batches for on and off road. All new off-road stuff which is the lion share that consumes fuel all runs DEF now .

You can buy a 5 gallon bucket of "universal tractor fluid" at Tractor supply company for $25. NO WAY would I start my tractor up dry esp a powershift. Buy the cheap oil if all you did was use it as a test oil for whatever your reason is. $25 is worth not destroying a pump. Heck I'd rinse the metal dust and slivers out with diesel and if I filled with that oil would not worry about running it at the normal lube, honestly. But I might spend another $10 more for a little better quality oil.

Here is the TSC link and it meets the J20C requirements he needs.

Even at $40 for 5-gallons is saved money vs. ripping the tractor apart.

Well someone is still putting in the red pee color in the off-road diesel. :p

The only thing I found was the thrust bearings were pretty worn and the rod caps were both on backward. It was literally idling, hard clunk to a dead stop, no issue with the governor.

All that is is just a dye. That's to let the highway man know if he pulls you over are you running taxed fuel or not in your truck. The red stains the test strips...and if they got so high as to impound the truck and got a warrant to search it the filters and all will be stained along with all the red fuel in it.

Sorry, I should have read down. Your response is much better than mine. :)

The $40 TSC UTF is the cheapest I would (do) run in a Powershift, I think its formulated to reduce foaming and is multigrade. But TSC, Autozone, etc also have 'Yellow Bucket' cheap $25 UTF claimed to be a suitable equivalent to what was used back when these tractors were built. I think it's single weight, not multigrade.

I wouldn't use Yellow Bucket as the long term refill for a powershift. But for a manual transmission tractor only used for puttering around I think its sufficient. I used it for years in the YM240 and put the remainder of the 5 gallons in my (1980's) 3-point backhoe that also specifies UTF.

But the problem with buying this junk oil for a flush, perhaps thinned with diesel, is you will have a couple of gallons unused left over in the bucket. I tried adding it 32:1 as engine fuel. That ran fine but it smells bad like an overheated transmission.

I wouldn't run flushed oil as fuel. There could be microscopic metal debris to cause extreme wear in the injector pump. Take it in where you take used motor oil.

If you want to start the engine for only a moment without turning the transmission just have somebody hold the clutch pedal down!
