Woodland Mills WC68 on a Kioti CK2610 : is this a good fit for my tasks?

Thanks for the quick responses. When comparing the two brands it seems the WC68 is closer in size and design to the TM-86H from WoodMaxx. Does anyone have experience with the smaller WoodMaxx model? Their brochure talks about an American made hydraulic pump and hydro control (Italian made) valves. Does this address the concerns over the infeed speed control?

If you want to chip material anywhere close to an 8" chipper's capacity you are going to need more power. With 32 PTO HP I have to throttle the feed speed down to minimum and sometimes manually stop feed to let the tractor spin the flywheel back up. Some high end self powered chippers can do that automatically.

The more flywheel effect, the better the chipper will be able to do on material that takes more power than the tractor has. That's useful to help it power through a fork or knot that momentarily takes more power.

That said I think an 8H will be too much chipper for that tractor. based on watching videos of people using them on tractors with that level of PTO HP.

How many inches off the ground is the PTO shaft center-line in Kioti CK2610 - the flywheel shaft of WC68 is 22" off the ground.

I have the WC68 on a JD 2520 which has about 21 hp at the PTO. I have had it for about 2 years now and bought it after a tornado came through our area and I had numerous trees down. I was also worried that it was too much for my tractor but it is not, as long as I work within the limits of the equipment. As others have said, 3-4 inch max and expect to make some extra cuts otherwise it will jam. The hydraulic feed is a must. If it jams, just hit the bar and it reverses the piece out.

I have probably 100 hr on the unit and I don't have even one complaint. The knives are easily accessible, too. Just work within the limits of your HP. Be patient and make some extra cuts to allow for smooth feeding and I think you will be very happy with the unit.

My tractor is a Branson 2515h. Center of the PTO is 19 1/2” off the ground so should fit well.
My WC68 is being delivered on Monday.

Looks like Branson 2515h also has a pretty good rear lifting capacity and it should be a good fit as long as you are not trying to chip firewood size branches!

I suppose firewood size depends on availability and the stove type, but for me Douglas Fir branches over about 2 - 2.5 inches are worth saving for firewood.
Plenty of energy when seasoned couple of years and good for starting a fire.

Please keep us posted on how it works out for you.

Cheers

PS.
Sorry little off the subject, but here is how I cut the small stuff to proper length:
