Finally happened, into the new home although travelling back to the old pplace a few times a week to pick up bits and pieces, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom on 38 acres and it is starting to get expensive.
Just haad about half fenced and that was $20k, need a bore and tank which will be about another $20k ($150 per metre plus 10% tax), solar panels are going up next month and some electrical work to be done, another $10k, have got 4 horses here with 6 more to come, tractor coming up later in the week along with my woodworking machinery.
Wife is happy, daughters happy, water cooled visa card starting to get very hot but overall I am quite pleased how well it has gone, had to satellite for internet and phone but cost is similar to before, house is a lot brighter than the old place and well insulated so stays quite warm during the cool nights (by our standards, 7C is cold).
Back to pick up another 2 horses today then the german shepherd who is looking after the old place.
Feeling like a kid on xmas day.

Congrats on the new place. Just remember, no pics it never happened :). I know the feeling about the expense of projects. Seems like they never stop cropping up. We have been on our place 11 years and still working on it. Just finished adding a 14'X20' enclosed workshop with HVAC to the 30'X40' shop building for my wife to do her stained glass, $20,000. Need to replace the front fence which is 560' of fence plus a new entrance gate, plus do some more cross fencing, cost to be determined. Have already removed the old fence plus had the dead trees in the treeline taken down.

No pics yet, just using my tablet and yet to set up the main computer with all the software after I have fixed the desk, almost forgot, going to need a slasher or flail mower sideshift, I was cutting the front and found a ditch and tipped over the ride on mower, was never aware I could perform such delicate ballet moves getting off it as it went over.

Congrats on the move!!!! Had been wondering about it!!!!

Good timing too as you transition into Summer!!!! Gives you time to get that project list under control before next Winter.

Sounds like a move I would like, except for the expenses!
Congratulations!

Congrats Mate! Yep, moving into a new place always includes expensive 'improvements'.

Going for a bore, eh? I take it the 'new' house is plumbed to a tank and a wife + 2 daughters (and 10 horses) would drain a tank quick-smart.

30,000 litres which sounds impressive but is not a lot when you have animals, there is a dam but it doesn't hold a lot, no mains water nearby, no phone line, no gas, on the plus side the power is underground somewhere which I hope I won't find with the ripper.
Need a couple of 15a power points so I can run the MIG.
We are about 5km from the nearest main road and about 17km from Traralgon, 15km Rosedale and 40km to Sale, happy to be 'remote' but not far from anything.

Oooh, bugger. My power is underground too, but is a 'direct' line to a three-property pole. That was confirmed by a "Dial Before You Dig" contractor when I disputed the map showing the placement/run of my underground landline. The map was, indeed, wrong so Telstra covered the cost of the contractor.

Sounds like a great location!!!!

I'm 2 miles from a dinky old town with no offerings, 10 miles from the County Seat with most offerings, 80 miles from a City with all offerings.

I'd enjoy seeing pics of your piece of the planet when you can.
