Building Lake Corona

Considering I've been building this on the fly with no real plan I haven't thought about it yet. Figured as soon as I put some down I'd be digging it right back out or tracking all over it.

Rye grass is cheap and easy to apply, just spread and water. Running over it building just covers it up. No need to worry about digging it back up. It's the point of getting roots established to stop erosion. I moved a lot of Bermuda grass in moving and enlarging my dam. It came back up, but it is not an annual. You could start on the new walk/tractor paths and the back side of the dam. Get roots growing............being a cheerleader here.

Just enough rain last night to make things sloppy. With the ground wet you can make out the walk paths and see the pond edge much better now. It's going to take a lot of water to fill.

Now you have me second guessing myself. Worked for a couple of hours this morning leveling out the first area of the hillside I started on. Hoping to head back out this evening and start cutting a walk path along the west side of the pond.

Great photos, and great progress! Maybe you could just put in pier poles for now, since lumber is high? But at all costs, keep the wifey happy.

x2. I used to plant conservation mix with oats or annual rye on the snow on woods roads, to quickly stabilize the soil in spring. They don't have to be certified seed either, I always just used feed oats.
When seeding in spring the conservation mix would green up within days.
