The manual tire changer is fine for steel wheels but will gouge aluminum. I modified the tire lever with a piece of teflon to protect the wheel while removing the tire and just don't use it to put the tire back on the wheel. I was kind of hoping that they would start selling touchless manual tire changers. They only seam to be sold in China so having one sent to the US would be expensive. But HF could do it in bulk. I've seen prices around $300 but I'm sure that's for one unit.

100% correct. The hold down will gouge alloy wheels. Owning a machine shop, I fabbed up a solid bronze disc that goes under the steel hold down and that protects the alloy wheels.
