My HIGHLY FANCY Splitter Control. Never even thought of a tin can "length" setting!



A former local customer of mine (TERRA FOOTWEAR) used to use an electric log splitter to crunch the toes of returned safety boots after they found people scavenging them at the local land fill site.

Yes, but you still aren't telling the whole story... which is why I didn't feel the need to. There's still some question whether she was willing from the start, or really was inundated by her captors.

Not sure how many aluminum cans she recycled but there were food giveaways and even a riot or two...

Very interesting time to be a kid walking to school past boarded up homes one could buy for a dollar now selling for 450k... Black Panthers and Angela Davis still lives in the neighborhood, Earth First, Symbionese Liberation, ****'s Angles club house, Weather Underground... etc. Plus Flower Children, Hippies, Yippees, Caesar Chavez... but through it all we recycled bottles, cans and paper

Not sure of the details but, don't they harvest methane from land fill.

They used to burn it.

I remember driving thru Gary Indiana before interstates and you could see the fire, especially at nite.

They still do around here, it's classified as "green energy made from a renewable source" as such, the local landfills all have generators that run on landfill gas.

Most Iowa stores have had a "hold" on taking back cans for the deposit $, since March. They're blaming COVID. Can't crush them. Storing them now has become an "issue"... Stinky.

Basically what I did was set 2 small oak 6x6 solid chunks to take up travel so the stroke is maybe 8-10". Nothing fancy but it works.

That would be simple enough and it would also allow me to crush the occasional gallon can. Now, how to crush glass...

Maybe you didn't get the update, they rescinded that "hold" about a month ago.

I tied to hilite the Germany part but this i pad and my crusty fingers do not interface well.

For years I've been preaching that all fines should be based on income. Traffic fines are a perfect example.

A sheetrocker making $50K maybe, if he ever shows up to work, gets a $100 ticket, can't afford a lawyer, can't take off work to fight it and now he can't make his truck payment.

Joe wheeler dealer gets the same ticket, texts his secretary and lawyer and goes on his merry way.

Exact same violation, punishment differs by orders of magnitude.

That's just not fair, but, that's life!

What isn't fair? Same violation, same ticket, same fine... Please tell me you don't want to penalize the rich just because they are rich...

No one gets penalized if the containers are returned. If not, then they loose their money based on how much it matters to them. Guessing, welfare people, would throw them out anyway. So, a wrinkle in that thinking, I guess.
