Getting "Rid Of" your Aluminum Cans

It might be the only way to have some "rich" people be environmentally responsible. Hit them in the pocketbook. Like in Germany, traffic tickets are based on your income. Otherwise rich people speed with virtual impunity.

Besides. as far as th cans go, you have to think for a minute, engage brain. It's only a higher DEPOSIT.

Kills me, Lady friends brother inlaw visits (to do manual labor) a few weeks ago. Asks if we want Tim Hotons (Coffee) We say no. Why would we? We have perfectly good coffee in the house. So he brings it anyway, and all the cups are double cupped! Some people just don't give a crap about their environmental footprint. One Tim Hortons paper cup should cost $2.00!

I tied to hilite the Germany part but this i pad and my crusty fingers do not interface well.

For years I've been preaching that all fines should be based on income. Traffic fines are a perfect example.

A sheetrocker making $50K maybe, if he ever shows up to work, gets a $100 ticket, can't afford a lawyer, can't take off work to fight it and now he can't make his truck payment.

Joe wheeler dealer gets the same ticket, texts his secretary and lawyer and goes on his merry way.

Exact same violation, punishment differs by orders of magnitude.

That's just not fair, but, that's life!

I don't hardly ever buy any lottery tickets, but I did use the five dollar bill from my 9.80 worth of beer and liquor empties to buy a ticket today.

An X-Mennonite friend one described lotteries as a TAX on the Stupid. At least it's voluntary.

I've also heard them described as a "tax on the poor." People don't accumulate wealth by pi$$ing it away on lottery tickets. I do like to buy an occasional scratchoff, especially on Friday. If I win I reinvest in another.:D Anything over $5.00 gets invested in something else though... that's how I bought my cutting torches and 1/3 of my winch. If I kept track I would be behind; yet I view it as recreation. I don't have satellite TV, don't eat out or go to bars, my only major obligation is to feed my dog and the livestock I keep.

Not sure of the details but, don't they harvest methane from land fill.

They used to burn it.

I remember driving thru Gary Indiana before interstates and you could see the fire, especially at nite.

Gary Indiana was the steel mills.

They knew the consequences but still broke the law. You could go to traffic court and help pay their fine so Joe Sheetrocker can continue to be a meathead.

That's funny.

I would gladly pay mr sheet rockers fine if he would just come back and do his 3rd run!

We disagree and that's fine. l still don't think it's a fair system.

Who remembers Patty Hearst, fine young gal in her day. I bet she knew the consequences for bank robbery but, what ever came of that...hmmmmm.

Boy do i ever remember the mills, what a unique oder! I also remember the mountain ranges of garbage with pipes sticking out and the flames.

Gary has a certain smell to it, back in the day.

She was sentenced to 35 years in prison...

That wasn't as cut-and-dried as you make it sound. She apparently started out as a kidnap victim...

Good for you! I split my wood in the Fall so the little splitter just sits there for the rest of the year. I enjoy puttering so the can -crusher mod is ideal.

Basically what I did was set 2 small oak 6x6 solid chunks to take up travel so the stroke is maybe 8-10". Nothing fancy but it works.
