I've got a pond slope that is 25 degrees. I had Ventrac come and do a demonstration for me earlier this week. I was not impressed considering the price. Everything is an option on the basic tractor. By the time you buy the wheel kit, the finish mower and the tough cut mower, you're in the $30K range.

I then read with great interest about the Kubota F series 4WD units. I was hopeful this may be the answer for me. I called two of the dealers within 30 minutes of me and neither one had one in stock.

So, I was scouring the internet this morning and I found the ultimate slope mower!

See: Best of Brielmaier - Vers. 218 - YouTube

I understand they have a headquarters in Alabama. I don' t know much more than that at the moment. Trying to get some information as to whether they sell in USA or import or even dealer opportunities, but I am definitely impressed!

Company name is Brielmaier. Never seen anything like it, but I'm extremely impressed and interested.

Anybody here know anything about them? I believe they are out of Germany....

I've seen those before and they really are impressive especially for maintaining a hillside lawn or possibly the bank of a highway. The thing I can't understand is how it's cost effective to cut hay on the side of a mountain.

When you hear the entire story, you will go nuts,,
I have read that the reason those machines exist is to make the area attractice to tourists,,

AND

The machines are operated by people collecting welfare,,

So, they are not harvesting hay, they are beautifying the area for the tourists,,,,,,,,,,,,

It was in some European forum, discussing 2-wheel tractors,, YEARS ago,
if you can call those things two wheel tractors!! LOL :D

Also, keep in mind that the places where you see these machines, are full of hills so they don't really have many flat places to make hay.

Id like to see what they use to bale the hay.

Perhaps in some areas of Europe this is a true statement but when I went to Switzerland they were operated by farmers and the hay was gathered and put up loose in barns using a giant blower. The barn floors were full of holes and there was another blower that forced air up through the floor to dry the hay and prevent overheating.

Somewhere on youtube, there was a video of people hanging loose hay on racks under a shed to dry. Can't remember how they cut it. The workers might have used sythes or two wheelers like in the video put up by the OP. Anyway, I couldn't see how all that hand labor was cost effective, and posted a question about it. I can't find the reply but as best I can remember the answer was that it was done that way as a demonstration of the old ways. If I run across the same video any time soon, I'll try and post the exact reply I got or a link to it.

I've searched high and low for that video without success. It must have been taken down.

RedTop - I've got one of those. The issue is a 500 foot pond dam that is 56 feet from the top to the bottom with a 25 degree slope. I've done it twice with a weed eater and IT IS NOT FUN !!

Videos remind me of struggling with a Gravely PRO 12, walkbehind on a hill side.

Understood. Picked up on the lighthearted response upon the first read. Am considering Altoz and Kubota F series. Good thing is I've got time until next Spring before I have to make a decision....
