TV shows...the good, bad and the ugly...

I watched the first episode and found it painfully slow moving and the basic story line predictably tired...It seemed like there was a whole lot of unneeded dialog and not near enough action...
Was hoping for something much better after reading the names associated with the production etc...The great sets and wardrobes were not enough to keep me watching...

give me more 'Fargo' ...!

It takes a view episodes. I'm through episode 4. Character building takes time.. hoping that develops. That is key in my mind.

I still think 'Rectify' is my most favorite when it comes to the storyline and character building. Incredibly written and performed.

Anyone remember Twin Peaks?

I remember incessant hype about it, which is why I refused to watch it.

That's been my experience with a lot of highly hyped tv shows...Friends, the Simpsons, Senfield, Married With Children. Watched a couple episodes, just thought the shows were kinda lame.

I felt the same way about Outlander. The premise sounded interesting, but it just dragged on and on, and none of the characters were particularly likeable. Might have been an OK movie, but for a multi-season series, not so much. My wife liked it.

I'm with you; I thought Seinfeld was on about a 3rd grade level...which is normally OK, but I just couldn't relate. The few good shows I have watched religiously very quickly fade away into PC mediocrity.

The John Larroquette Show. First season was 'groundbreaking'. They did a lot of things that weren't the usual schlopp. Then the corporate people took over and ruined it. Second season was a mess, mundane, formulaic. It died.

I'm not sure I would go that far but it did have some great writing and was very funny...IMO Kelly had some of the funniest lines ever...
The two characters that never filled the bill IMO were Marcy's husbands...neither were very good compared to the rest of the ensemble... IMO...
