if someone was trying to set my place on fire, i wouldnt hesitate to end it. let the courts settle it. then again, in idaho, it probably wouldnt see a court room.

The thread is about theft. Wouldnt it be natural to discuss what encourages such acts of criminality, or conversely what doesnt discourage them within our society. I would sooner a Government tough on crime than figuring out ways to protect my person, family, friends and stuff.

I'm sure some of you guys will find this hard to believe but whenever you refer to some movie I have no idea what you are talking about. I haven't watched a movie since 1972,I believe, when there was a movie called Monty Walsh that was supposed to be based on a book that I read many times over. It was the best western novel that I ever read and when it came out as a movie with an all star cast I really wanted to see it. I got up and walked out less than 1/2 way through it because they screwed up the story so bad.

Since then I just gave up on Hollywood and from what I read about what they put out I'm just as well off. YMMV.

I did not believe that I had a no movie brother anywhere.

As far as I remember he ended up with a fine for having discharged a firearm within a municipality or such.

Hunting regulations prohibit discharging within 1 mile. Hunters work around it by using crossbows.

We have similar laws, I haven't been able to hunt on my parent's property for years because the city limits changed. It's on 30 acres which sit within a 350 acre undeveloped area, but it's slowly getting developed plus they are about 1/2 mile from Walmart, HD, Lowes, and several malls... where it used to be a diary farm when I was growing up. I believe that the laws were changed recently but at one time a crossbow was considered a firearm.

Sometimes people are faced with a decision of which of the two evils to face; break the law or defend your property and/or loved ones. Never mind that nobody actually wants to shoot another human being. It's a decision they must make in seconds, without benefit of 178 internet forum posts to help.

I hope that I never have to make that decision.

They were here also but somehow lobbies got that changed. Same for electronic lures and salt or food (carrots) lures. I only presume hunters argued that they were unaware that an unknown individual had dumped rotting carrots or apples in that field.
Oh, gee your honor, I always wondered why there were so many deer there.
