Yup

i'm building my house and garage and have ordered thousands and thousands of dollars on line, none at Amazon! It's an effort to avoid amazon!

I can just see that beazos? guy losing sleep because i didn't buy my chop saw from him.

I wonder if there is not a business opportunity. Seems i have to return way too much of what is shipped to me. Most times it's the wrong stuff but many times it's damaged.

A person could set up a physical location for online returns and pick ups.

Probably never work but, in my world, if it's wrong and less than $40, i throw it out. it's just not worth the hassles of returning.

Ordered tune up kit for still chain saw. Sent wrong plug, twice! Is it worth it to return it?

On the other hand, i just spent 6 months fighting those SOBs for $40. I finally won but that was really a case of, cut your nose off to spite your face. Most people would have caved, as they should.

Slow shipping is bad enough. But incorrect tracking info just adds fuel to the fire. Here's my experience this week on an order for an air compressor from Home Depot:
Ordered 12/7 (Debit card charged immediately.)
Delivery promised by 12/24 or 12/25
First tracking info was that it was 'on the road' on 12/9
Next info was that it was delivered 12/11 -huh? I didn't get it!!!
(Shipper's "Customer Service" only works 8-4:30 Monday thru Friday; no info over the weekend)
On 12/14 shipper says delivery would be 12/21
Compressor delivered 12/15.

So much for tracking information.

For inexpensive, easily available items like a spark plug, why bother to order it on line? Local auto parts store, Walmart, TS...any of them should have it. Maybe 50¢ more, big deal.

I don't order there a lot, but I've never had any problems with Amazon. I mostly use them for items not readily available (or considerably more expensive) locally.

Had a Bay seller switch tracking numbers between me and someone else. The one they uploaded showed delivered a couple of hundred miles away. The package I got the same day had a completely different tracking number.



BezosCo has a package dropoff/return arrangement with one of the lesser department stores ... Marshalls or Kohls.

Amazon does? Never heard of this. I used to stay away from Amazon but no place offers so many items with free* shipping and decent packaging. I got tired of setting up accounts with my cc in it all over the internet just to buy one item one time somewhere. Add to that poorly packaged stuff falling out of the box when it gets here. Amazon seems to have much less of that. I tried and still use PayPal but many places do not take that either.

* I pool up orders to get to $25 and then select free shipping.

Amazon sent an item to me via FedX.

FedX delivered to wrong address. A few days after getting the notice of delivery from Amazon and NO package received I asked where it was delivered. They just replied that they had checked and found out it was mis-delivered to the wrong address. I asked where it was delivered. and they said the seller does not have any more of them so Amazon will refund my credit card. Which they promptly did.

Never could find out where the item was supposedly delivered to.

I just waited until I was going to the Co-Op and picked one up there. It was $1 more than the Amazon price.

I had a non-delivery once from WeatherTech via FedEx. Weathertech reshipped it and delivered promptly. A couple of weeks later FedEx delivered the first one and driver told me to keep both as FedEx ate the loss already. It had sat my oddball neighbors front porch for two weeks and they had to walk around it multiple times a day. I had seen it sitting there and had wondered about it.
